A hardworking, dynamic and motivated individual - CALLUM SMITH is an experienced and enththusiastic stage manager and theatre technician, who over the last 5 years has worked tirelessly to gain experience in a number of roles in his chosen field.
This search has taken him to nearly every major venue in his native Glasgow, three times to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, to Germany, to Poland and the Czech Republic in diverse roles ranging from stage hand to director and producer. He is currently an MA student at the University of Glasgow, and is available for freelance work, commissions and consultation work as a stage manager, lighting designer and producer.
In 2011 he was Deputy Technical Manager of C on Chambers Street at The Edinburgh Festival Fringe, where he was responsible for a crew of 20 technicians, four theatre spaces and over 100 shows. In 2007 and 2008 he acted as a venue technician and senior technician at the same venue.
As a freelance producer he founded The Cheeky Breakfast, who promote and produce performance and events around Glasgow. Their debut event, The Pitch at the CCA in Glasgow will showcase 9 short performances in a variety of genres and styles.
Outside of theatre, he has worked as an English Language assistant in Limoges, France and for the Walt Disney Company in Orlando, Florida. He presents and produces a weekly radio show on Glasgow university's Subcity Radio ( www.subcity.org/shows/cheekybreakfast ). He is also passionate about travel, cookery and cinema.
