Studio News
Lessons and Practice
Practice 4-5 half hour sessions per one-credit lesson.
Attendance is required at all lessons, and students are expected to prepare music outside of class.
Repertoire
Students are assigned four pieces per credit, as well as vocal exercises. Music and language will be memorized.
Papers
A report is required for each of the four songs or arias assigned, and will be due at the last lesson of the semester. The song reports will be discussed throughout the term.
Use the listening guide as a report resource. It is located in your vocalise book.
Reports about the concert requirements are also due at the end of the semester.
Juries
Students will prepare three songs for a ten-minute presentation to the voice faculty during exam week. A jury form will be available from your teacher.
Music will be memorized, and any foreign language components must be translated.
Attire
Suitable for a professional job interview or business presentation.
Recital
One memorized piece will be performed on recital, which will be open to the public. All voice students are required to participate in the performance, and are required to remain present for the entire recital.
Women: Long evening dress or skirt, sleeves preferred. Dress shoes with mid-height heel, no sandals or flip-flops.
Men: Suit or dress slacks and sport coat, shirt and tie, dress shoes, dark socks.
FAILURE TO WEAR APPROPRIATE PERFORMANCE ATTIRE WILL RESULT IN THE LOWERING OF THE FINAL GRADE.

Piano lessons will be given in Ritz the week prior to recital,
which will serve as your dress rehearsal for the concert.
REMEMBER that rehearsal times have been changed due to time conflicts in Ritz.
