for body and mind
Polarity (free trial session)
Massage Therapy
Polarity therapy is an alternative medicine system developed in the 1940's by Doctor Randolph Stone that combines Eastern and Western philosophies of health. The theory is that healing can be achieved through the manipulation of complementary (or polarized) forces. In a typical session, the client may experience a strong or subtle release of emotions that have been blocked by muscular and energetic tension patterns. Used alone, or in conjunction with Nuero-Muscluar Therapy, Polarity can be a great tool for healing both the mind and body.

navigating the space between brilliance and madness
The Icarus Project envisions a new culture and language that resonates with our actual experiences of 'mental illness' rather than trying to fit our lives into a conventional framework. We are a network of people living with and/or affected by experiences that are often diagnosed and labeled as psychiatric conditions. We believe these experiences are mad gifts needing cultivation and care, rather than diseases or disorders. By joining together as individuals and as a community, the intertwined threads of madness, creativity, and collaboration can inspire hope and transformation in an oppressive and damaged world. Participation in The Icarus Project helps us overcome alienation and tap into the true potential that lies between brilliance and madness.

The Gainesville Icarus Project is a community support group that meets weekly in hopes of creating a safe space where folks can gather to talk about whatever is on their minds, free from judgment, and free from the stereotypes of the psychiatric system.
Meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month at the Civic Media Center from 7-9pm.
