What is BuffaloHeart?BuffaloHeart is a line of recycled and reconstructed clothing and accessories. In addition, BuffaloHeart carries a few select vintage items. Created in 2009, BufaloHeart apparel has always been crafted with over 50% recycled fabrics collected from various heirloom and thrift sources. The methodology of BuffaloHeart is about using existing materials to create beautiful, one of a kind pieces that celebrate the delicate, feminine side of eco couture. Who makes the clothes?With the exception of the few vintage items I carry in my online shop, all items are reconstructed and handmade by me, Lindsay. What does "BuffaloHeart" mean anyway?The Hidatsa people of the present-day Dakotas were dependent on four staples that defined their summer diet: beans, squash, corn, and sunflowers. The sunflowers were a particularly versatile source of food. The Hidatsa could press oil from the seeds, or crush the seeds into a paste, or roll them into balls that resembled little round granola bars.These sunflower seed balls were carried by hunters when they went in search of deer or buffalo. In a pouch made from the dried heart of a buffalo, the seed balls kept dry on the hunter's journey. Thus they were protected and were useful to sustain the hunter.Much like the conservative, efficient use the Hidatsa made of their resources, so should we make an effort to use our resources efficiently. Most of the dresses and accessories can be shipped via priority mail at a reasonable rate, so if you live in the continental United States you will almost always get your item in a matter of a few business days.If you need expedited shipping, please let me know and please be prepared to pay an appropriate price for the shipping. You can estimate shipping costs using this website (items from this shop ship from U.S. zip code 59912): http://www.usps.com/tools/calculatepostage/welcome.htm -- Sometimes it is possible and sometimes it is not. It simply depends on how much you are willing to pay and how quickly you need the item. If you need something immediately, please expect to be charged accordingly. I cannot cover excessive shipping expenses.Packaging:All packing materials are recycled, with the exception of the packaging tape. Your package will be hand decorated to revitalize the old packing materials. I don't charge for this service, I'm just excited about sending you a colorful surprise in the mail. You are welcome and encouraged to reuse the envelope yourself--reduce, reuse, recycle!Refunds and ExchangesIf you are not satisfied with your purchase, you may contact me to arrange an exchange. The request MUST be made within seven (7) days of receipt. Please note that your exchange credit will be for the value of the item only; I cannot give you credit for shipping since that is money out of my pocket. You can use your credit toward anything in my shop as well as custom orders if you would like to have an item made to your measurements.
