Jet Li
Justin Jet Li Valles Justin Jet Li Valles has been dancing as long he could remember. From the days of his childhood he was always interested in dance, even though he did not really know how to. It was not until he learned his first B-Boy steps living in New Jersey at age 7, from his older friend, when he started breaking. Once the Internet made its appearance he became exposed to the style called Popping. He would find any possible venue to show off his moves to his peers; school dances, gym class, lunch.. No one stopped him from dancing as he would not stop either. However once Justin moved back and began living in Los Angeles, his interest in dance had slowly grown into a pursuit of dance profession. While attending high school Justin befriended and met many dancers, with the friends he met he decided to join a crew called Tang Klang. One of the founders of the crew was the well-known Robert Muraine aka Mr. Fantastic from So You Think You Can Dance. The crew would travel around different parts of LA to battle with other dancers at other high schools. It was with this crew that Justin came to be known as Jet Li as his appearance resembled that of the martial arts superstar. From then on, Justin entered in many dance battles and competitions and had affiliated himself with the popping crew Funny Bones. It was also during this time that he joined the non-profit dance company Culture Shock Los Angeles. At first it was tough for him, because Justin was a freestyle dancer. It was with Culture Shock that his training in learning counts and doing choreography had begun. It was also during this time that Justin met Law and Dumbo who also began dancing with Future Shock, Culture Shocks Youth Team. Through the years and with better experience Justin became the Assistant Artistic Director for the team. As time passed Dumbo decided to create Poreotics and had invited Justin to become a part of it. Poreotics became a well-known force in the West Coast dance scene doing performances and winning competitions. They were asked to audition for Americas Best Dance Crew for season 3 and 4 but were not accepted. It was not until after Poreotics won Gold at Hip Hop International USA in 2009 that they auditioned for season 5 and made it into to the show. After Poreotics won Americas Best Dance Crew, Justin has been traveling and performing across the US and various parts of the globe such as Canada, Australia, Russia, South Africa and the Philippines. He also had the opportunity to work with artists such as Justin Bieber and Usher, appearing in the music video Somebody to Love as well as the dancing monkey in Bruno Mars music video The Lazy Song. He also made appearances in the Ellen Show and Disneys Shake It Up. Through all the success, Justin always strives for more, constantly practicing and improving his craft to better himself and share with those around him.
ABOUT
Charles
Charles Nguyen Charles Viet Nguyen was born on October 16, 1989 in Long Beach, CA and attended Bolsa Grande High School in Westminster, CA where he graduated in 2007. Charles began doing high school dance performances his sophomore and junior year for fun, but fell in love with hip hop as a result. He met Can at church, who introduced him to popping, when he was 15 and was later asked to be one of the original three members of Poreotics. At first Charles practiced popping, and later began taking classes when he joined Pac Modern in the fall of 2008. Charles says his most memorable moment while on ABDC season 5 was winning, ìI really thought we werenít going to win, so I was enjoying my last minutes on stage. When not dancing, Charles enjoys playing volleyball, eating and watching his favorite show, Family Guy. Charles is currently enrolled at Golden West College and his major is Education, where he hopes to one day be a middle school or high school teacher. His motivation for dancing comes from this saying, Dance with your heart, dance how you feel, that is how you know the dancer is real.
Dumbo
Matt Dumbo Nguyen Dumbo, founding member of Poreotics, was born March 25, 1989 and attended Rancho Alamitos High School, where he graduated in 2008. At the age of 16, ironically after watching the street-dancing flick, You Got Served, Dumbo was inspired to start dancing. After observing different styles of hip-hop, Dumbo found he wanted to create his own style, something that hed never seen before.Though his favorites styles included popping, freestyling and choreography, he had never seen them put together by a unified crew, he came up with a funk style in choreography with a robotic feel, that soon became the stamp of Poreotics. While in high school Dumbo enjoyed experimenting with hair, which led him to apply at Paul Mitchell the School in Costa Mesa, where he is still currently attending. He also did most of the crews hair for their performances during Season 5 of ABDC.Dumbos trademark nickname comes from his awkward talent of moving his ears back and forth, rather impressively, without hesitation. In his spare time Dumbo enjoys playing volleyball, fishing and working on his car.

Law
Lawrence "Law" DeveraLawrence Law Devera was born and raised in Los Angeles, California where he fell in love with the art of hip-hop dance. Growing up in a very family oriented environment, he was first introduced to bboying at the age of 15 by his older cousins who always got down at family gatherings. Then in 2006, although Lawrence was highly active in high school academics, clubs and sports, he had a new found passion for dance pushing him to join a junior dance troupe called Future Shock LA where he decided to challenge himself to do hip-hop choreography. This was the spark that influenced him to later represent crews and other teams such as Culture Shock Los Angeles, PAC Modern, Freedom Junkies, SPAM, Choreo Kingz, Inside the Box, Boogiezone Breed and Americas Got Talent Season 3s Sickstep.Although he was studying to become an X-Ray technician, he still has a strong passion to seek something more from what dance has taught him.In the fall of 2008, Lawrence was then recruited into Poreotics for the Americas Best Dance Crews Season 3 auditions. Unfortunately, the group didnt make it onto ABDC season 3 or the season after, but in that time they were still hungry and went on to win the 2009 Championship title for the USA Hip-Hop International Finals as well as other competitions such as Breakthrough Dance Competition and World of Dance. Finally the crew was fortunate to make it onto ABDC Season 5 and through a tough and exhausting journey on the show, they pushed on to win the Season 5 Championship title. Since then Lawrence has never been more thankful and more blessed to be living the dream that he aimed for without expectation.Lawrence considers himself a student everyday and hopes to inspire and entertain audiences with every performance. He is thankful that new generations have also grown to appreciate the art of dance as he did and gratefully respects the pioneers of hip-hop dance who have paved the way for all dancers. Lawrence hopes that he will one day become as great as these pioneers and that soon he will fulfill his hopes to be able to support his own family in the future.
Can
Can NguyenCan Nguyen was born on October 8, 1990 in Garden Grove, CA. After moving to Gardena, CA, Can returned back to Garden Grove where he attended Garden Grove High School until he graduated in 2008. Can was a member of the high school marching band and played trumpet for all four years of high school. During band class his freshman year, a friend asked if he was interested in joining the high school Hip Hop Club. In addition to learning all about the hip hop culture, Can learned how to break dance. After joining Can became an avid dancer, and though he never had any formal training, he learned everything from having sessions with other dancers in his back yard. Can danced with Pac Modern and Animasion, but it wasnít until December 18, 2007 when he received a text from Dumbo, that Poreotics was born.In addition to dancing with Poreotics, Can also does all the graphics work for the crew including all the t-shirt designs and logos. In his free time Can likes to produce and mix music and work on his art.
Chad
Andrew-Chad "Chad" MayateAndrew-Chad Fausto Mayate was born on October 30, 1989 in Long Beach CA. and raised in Torrance CA. Chad always loved to dance but mainly focused on sports growing up. In high school Chad got his first taste of learning choreography and popping during his sophomore year at South Torrance High School but didnt dance again until the end of his senior year because of basketball. It wasnt until college when Chad finally got serious into dancing, and he didnt even know what he was getting himself into.During his freshmen year in college, Chad attended the PAC Modern Spring 2008 auditions just to spectate and watch his friends take class and audition. They convinced him to learn the routine just for fun and even talked him into auditioning. Being thrown into auditioning without proper dance training and experience is pretty nerve-reckoning. Chad auditioned and blanked-out at the start of the routine and just freestyled knowing he wouldnt make the team. PAC Modern ended up adding Chad to their roster based on potential. Since then Chad was about to train properly and learn about all of the dance elements as well as get introduced into the dance community.During the Fall of 2009 the original 3 Poreotics Dumbo, Can, and Charles auditioned and made it onto PAC Modern. Chad was able to train and learn their style through routines and just getting to know the guys. During the summer of 2009 Chad was asked to substitute for Jet Li for Hip Hop International 2009 while Jet Li was in Korea. After winning 1st place in the adult division for USA, Chad was inducted and made the 6th member of Poreotics. From there on Poreotics had continued to win many dance competitions as well as making it onto and winning Americas Dance Crew Season 5 as well as reclaiming their title as 1st place in the USA during Hip Hop International 2010 and taking 2nd in the world. Chad was named the Poreotics Lucky Charm.Even until now Chad still considers himself a student of dance especially knowing that he hasnt been dancing for as long as the others in the crew have. He still tries to train in all of the other dance styles but is thankful that he is able to experience all of the adventures that he has endured with his Poreotics brothers and is currently focusing on trying to clarify and hone his own style while learning from his brothers and learning the roots of hip hop. Chad is truly thankful for everyone that has helped him along his way in becoming a dancer and getting him to where he is now, especially his #1 fans, his family
