This is Phiona. A brilliant, vibrant, happy, four year old girl who lives in an orphanage in Iganga, Uganda. She is sweet and caring, full of energy and grace. She has been an orphan since birth, and was nearly aborted before she was born. Both of Phiona's biological parents have died from AIDS and so now, she depends on the orphanage to provide for her. She has touched the hearts of many, including ours. Please join us in the fight to bring this little girl home to her family.
Mike and I recently traveled to Uganda as part of a missions team, from our home church in Huntsville, TX. This trip was first and foremost, about furthering God's Kingdom by sharing the gospel, serving His people, and loving on the kids. Whatever else would come from this trip was an added bonus and we were open to all possibilities. Prior to leaving for Uganda, I had several dreams in which I saw Mike and I adopting a baby girl from an African Orphanage. We didn't find any babies, but who we did find, was Phiona. She captured my heart almost immediately and for a reason only explained by God's provision, I felt instantly drawn to her. As we spent more time with her, it was clear to us that God had placed this little girl in our lives for a reason. Mike and I both felt very strongly, that we were to adopt this little girl into our family. One of our team members, James, said that when he saw Phiona with us, it was like experiencing a miracle. He said that you could just tell that Phiona was supposed to be part of our family and that it was an honor to watch her interact with us.
Leaving Uganda 10 days later was one of the most heart-wrenching experiences we've ever been through. We want Phiona to know that it isn't "good-bye", it's "until next time." Phiona has been a fighter for her entire life, and now it's her turn to be fought for. Please join us in prayer, donations, and support as we fight to have a little girl united with her family.
How can I help?
The adoption process is very long, and very expensive. There are several steps that need to be completed, precisely. There are attorney fees, agency fees, adoption fees, passports, visas, (perhaps) multiple trips to Uganda, court dates, court fees, Embassy clearance... need I say more?
We absolutely believe in the power of prayer so we ask for your prayers first and foremost. Second, we ask for your support. This isn't about the fact that Phiona is in Africa, and we are in America. It's about bringing a little girl home to her family. So we ask that you give all of the support to us, emotionally and spiritually that you can possibly stand. Last, and very important, we ask that you consider making a donation towards the cost of bringing Phiona home. We understand that money is tight and know that financial obligations are plentiful, but we can't do this without your help. Will you be part of our journey? Will you help to Bring Phiona Home?
