Brian is a 37-year-old Broadcast Journalist in the U.S. Army. He and Kelly have been married for ten years and have four kids.Brian began his varied career in journalism as a teen, writing for his school paper. At only 20 years old, he became the Assistant Editor for HM Magazine in Austin, Texas. After his time at HM, he worked around Austin as a graphic designer and web designer. In 2003 Brian joined the Army, where he currently serves as a Broadcast noncommissioned officer.While on his 2009 deployment to Afghanistan, Brian began to develop a dream to produce documentaries, realizing that the various broadcast stories he was producing about Soldiers were, essentially, a lot like miniature one- to two-minute documentaries.The first step of this journey is a doc telling the story of Lust Control, a Christian punk rock band who recently reunited to play the 2011 Cornerstone Festival. The other, more ambitious project is something he calls the "portable church" project. You can read about it here.

Sleeping Child Films' most ambitious documentary project will be a unique look into the "portable church" phenomenon.Portable Churches are just what the name implies... local churches that are not tied to dedicated permanent buildings. They typically meet in movie theaters, community centers, and even school cafeterias. This concept of a "church-in-a-box," as some call it, is taking hold all over the country, and it seems that churches usually go portable for different reasons. For some, it's a stepping stone on the path to owning a permanent building. For others, being portable is just the way they feel they've been called to do church.With "portable churches" springing up all over, our goal is to examine the phenomenon, talk to the people who are doing it, and tell the story about how and why these churches are choosing to be portable.We're currently looking for funding, as well as people to help out as we make this journey.
