Stated:
I love creating characters and critters, playfully odd, with big circle eyes and Cyrano and Groucho noses. I do large-scale acrylic paintings, small sharpie art, and ink/mixed media pieces.
Like Button:
I love venues with foot traffic. Creative spaces -- venues that not only have art on their walls, but also host creativity like open mics, poetry slams, and live music.
Nor'Ea Nebbyan:
I am co-founder of a creative collaborative known as Pseudo Poseur Productions, hosting events traditionally called 'Gypsy Freakshows,' which feature visual art, live poetry, and music. The Pseudo Poseur co-op also publishes a zine found both online and in hard copy, Nebby . Even when the Gypsy Freakshows traveled to somewhere new like Omaha or Lincoln, we still showcased Northeast Nebraskan talent. With Nebby , we create and publish a completely free zine, promoting culture from Northeast Nebraska, a perhaps artistically-underestimated part of the world.
Braggarty Blah:
I started creating visual art just two and a half years ago, in June of 2009. This is after a college degree in Literature and Writing, and no formal art instruction since 9th grade. I was working on a book of poetry, and wanted an artist friend of mine to illustrate. I started, attempting to show her what I had in mind, and she told me to keep going. I picked up a paintbrush that Thanksgiving. I signed the contract to my first solo exhibition less than one year later.
My first solo exhibit was for the full month of December 2010 at the Pizza Shoppe Collective in the downtown Benson neighborhood of Omaha, Nebraska. My second solo exhibit was in ran June-July 2011 at Meadowlark Coffee & Espresso in Lincoln, NE. Both venues host a multitude of events every month. I also had a solo showing at Bear Bones Studio, a musical creative space/recording studio in Parrish Studios during Lincoln, NE's First Friday Arts Walk in September of 2011.
In addition to solo shows, I've also shown at The Inkspot, part of Parrish Studios in Lincoln, NE in February 2011 with James Derrick Schott; at the Pizza Shoppe Collective in the downtown Benson neighborhood of Omaha, NE in October 2010 with frequent contributors to the weekly zine Found in Benson ; in March 2011, I had two pieces in the Norfolk Arts Center juried exhibit at the Norfolk Arts Center in Norfolk, NE; and at Wayne State College with faculty member Vic Reynolds during the November 2010 Plains Writers Series.
