Biography
Brett Leighs career has spread across the entertainment industry for the past several years. His most recent credits include the Academy Award winning film "The Social Network", "Festival", & Dunkin Donuts. "Festival" (executive producer, writer, director alongside friend Michael R. West) is an independent film showing in the festival circuit and has won such awards as "Best Comedy" & "Best Director" (2011).Previously to "Festival", Brett Leigh worked in the film industry for the past three years (2008-2011) from large studio to independent productions (27 Dresses, Surrogates, The Proposal, Zookeeper). Most of the films Brett Leigh has starred in can be seen in notable Film Festivals around the world (Herbeast Comes to Life, Mirage, One Day, Shadow).Brett Leigh worked with director David Fincher in the Academy Award winning film, "The Social Network" (2010). He acts opposite Andrew Garfield in the film. Brett Leigh is also known around the world via the International Tour of the acclaimed Broadway musical West Side Story. He played the most notable Opera houses in the world as Riff and Action for several years (2005-2009).Brett Leigh's directorial films have premiered at the Guggenheim exhibit White Box (Shadow,2010) ASU art museum (Bea Johnson, 2009) and BiFF (Festival,2011). Brett Leigh has also directed Shakespeare's A Midsummer Nights Dream with much success & found himself becoming involved with music videos and commercials (Pepsie-Max, 2010) in Los Angeles. Brett found a new passion in directing, creating, and producing. Brett has played the role of actor, scripty, Unit Production Manager, 1 AD, CD, editor, lighting, & Director which gives him much knowledge about film making.Previously to the film world, Brett was a successful Ballet dancer training with alumni from the Royal Ballet (English, Cecchetti, Russian, Vagonava, Balanchine, Ashton, French). Brett danced with notable companies & performances such as "The Anna Sokolow Dance Foundation", "Nutcracker", "Copellia", Balanchine's "Four Temperaments", Bob Fosse's "Percussion #4", & "Cinderella". Brett also choreographed & coached for the Youth American Grande Prix and other competitions winning awards and gaining notoriety. Meanwhile Brett was also performing lead and supporting roles in musicals across the U.S.: 'Cats' (Chicago, Mungojerrie), 'Chicago' (Lead Male Dancer), 'A Chorus Line' (Orpheum, Bobby), 'Gypsy' (Tulsa), 'The Music Man' (Tommy). Brett also joined an improve comedy troupe, 'The Tribe', and performed in Boston weekly until leaving for 'West Side Story' as mentioned above.Brett has also played principal roles in straight plays during his career which include: The Crucible, The Idiot & The Oddity (award for outstanding acting), God & Poker, Our Town, A Christmas Carol, & A Midsummer Nights Dream.Commercially, Brett has been a principal in commercials with U.S. Cellular, Dunkin Donuts, & Skillsoft.Brett Leigh has studied Uta Hagen, Stanislavski, & Michael Chcekhov. He constantly studies to learn more about his craft and how it affects the human Psyche.Brett has traveled to over 19 countries world-wide & across the U.S. twice studying different cultures, life-styles, religions, and people to truly grasp humanity & to correctly portray life on the screen/stage whether acting, Directing, or Producing. Brett Leigh's artistic visions and understanding how people communicate differentiate him from the norm. Brett Leigh has held residence in Colorado, Chicago, NYC, Boston, Rhode Island & Los Angeles studying and learning everything from diction to art.Brett Leigh holds a Bachelors Degree from University in Communications & a Minor in Psychology. In his spare time he teaches classical Ballet technique, plays piano, attends the cinema, and studies.Brett Leigh is working on the script 'Giselle' (2011).
