Angela is Brazilian and holds a BA in Portuguese and English. In the last few years she had enjoyed teaching Portuguese as a second language (PSL) both locally and internationally. Needless to say she has gained a lot of experience dealing with different student personalities and reinventing effective and modern ways of teaching Portuguese. She lives in Calgary NE (Canada) with her family but she keeps in touch with her heritage. She enjoys outdoor activities, foil fencing and lately she's learning how to play the guitar.
Angela focuses in Portuguese communication, works well with structured or informal presentations. Her goal is to help absolute beginners to reach the point of communicating with Portuguese speakers with confidence. She adjusts the syllabus to fit who you are and encourages you to always overcome any minor obstacle that learning Portuguese might show along the way.

Make sure to get the basics before venturing forth, not only it will make you feel as ease but also get yourself understood and know what Portuguese speakers are talking about. If you live in Calgary or nearby we might be able to conduct a face to face class otherwise classes are provided online.
About Us FAQs:
1) How long does it actually take to comunicate fluently in Portuguese?
A- Some students achieve it within 6 months to 1 year, for other students it might take a life time.
2) What if I just want the basics?
A- Take a minimum of 10 hours course. That should give you a good start.
3) But isn't Spanish and Portuguese similar? Couldn't I get by with Spanish while in Brazil?
A- Brazilians will understand some spoken/written Spanish and usually non-native Spanish speakers will find hard to understand spoken Portuguese.
4) Don't they speak English at all there?
A- Some English is spoken in the Airlines, 5 star hotels, ESL schools, large hospitals, some fancy shopping malls, tour companies, global industries.
5) I'd like to learn some Portuguese. How do we get started?
A- There are many resources online, at the local library and book shops. You also can contact me by email to arrange date and time for your Portuguese classes. Face to face classes are held at my home office (Calgary NE) , on Saturdays.
Note: For streaming live online classes: make sure to have high speed internet and a headset for sound quality. Webcam is optional. Have a skype account for audio support.

Portuguese Roles : ideal for the intermediate level student who is ready to learn more about using Portuguese in real life situations, here we will learn important functions and practice all sorts of useful roles and topics in all sorts of typical places. Be ready to talk in Portuguese. 10 lessons, material is included. Fee: CND$250
Register
Drop-ins for as little as CND $25 on Saturdays starting at 10am MDT ,1 hour long class. This might be a good chance for you who've been studying Portuguese and still have questions regarding Grammar or wants to improve pronunctiation.

I took the Fale Portugues (Clube do Tagarela) classes and enjoyed them IMMENSELY. angela did a wonderful job in accommodating subjects I was interested in exploring, and we always had a blast working on listening and writing assignments. The classes were informal, easy to understand, and she always made me feel at ease. I had a basic knowledge of Portuguese before these lessons, but after her classes I feel I can have a decent conversation with a true Brazilian any time! Muiiiiito Obrigada angela. Like fencing... learning Portuguese requires a little or a lot of discipline, but when you get a hold of the basics you can benefit from it by tackling the language the way you can at the moment.
