We know inspiration comes from different places for different people so we try to offer a variety of different forms of support, such as:
Page 1 Brains for Change began by hosting a few large conferences each year where we brought together students, campus staff, and community representatives so people could link up with people who shared their interests and passions.
We're always new events to the sched. Here's what we have planned so far:
- January 28th: Brains for Change Conference - the keystone event of the B4C experience - this is where you can pitch your project ideas and get support from students, university staff, and community leaders
- Starting February 2nd: The Bigger Pitcher - A regular gathering at the Dalhousie Gradhouse. Join fellow studesnts in discussion and learn about current projects, student groups and initatives.
- March 11th: TedX Conference - as a major new addition to this year's events we're hosting a TedX Halifax conference at Dal to help share ideas worth spreading. This will be the closing celebration of B4C 2011/12

Big events may help to inject energy onto campus, but to help sustain and develop that momentum we have introduced a new office space (called "The Sandbox") where the spirit of Brains for Change will live, 24/7..
Whether you're looking for some creative inspiration for an essay, trying to find a graphic designer for a new business you're starting, or maybe you have a big community project in mind, then The Sandbox is the place for you.
This space is located in room 214 of the Student Union Building - thats on the 2nd floor of the SUB, just a few doors down from all the DSU Staff and Execs, for easy access for project support.
We aim to have this space fully functional by November 2011. The space has been fully designed and furnished based on student consultation.

Page 3 We think the concept of "charity" is an outdated idea that creates systems of dependency. We are focused on creating self-sustaining social mission organizations (aka "social enterprises").
With that in mind we have made $20,000 available in interest-free loans to support student based businesses that are focused on providing essential community services in a manner that respects the triple bottom line.
We are beginning to solicit interest from students who have ideas for businesses.

Bigger Pitcher Meetups Imagine a space where you can get together each week to trade visionary ideas with your peers and mentors - while drinking beers! That's the idea behind The Bigger Pitcher Speaker Series.
Each Friday afternoon we invite students of all ages to The Grawood to join us for these weekly meet-ups. We typically kick off the event with a special guest speaker talking for 15min and then launch into small group conversation. (those students under 19 will not be able to drink, but the Grawood does have great food).
It kicks off October 28th, and takes place every Friday for the rest of the semester. For details email dsuvped_dal.ca
