The theme this year was chosen with hopes of presenting Islam in its holistic form, a faith that concerns itself not only with success in the hereafter but with this world as well. As such we hope that to not only present Islamic doctrines and jurisprudence but also the culture that developed inspired by Islam; Islamic arts, sounds, science and architecture. It is hoped that with this theme Islam will be seen as more than just a religion but as The Deen, a truly complete way of life.

The National University of Singapore Muslim Society (NUSMS) is a non-profit student organization established in the 1960s in the hopes of working towards a God-Conscious society. Working with recognized organizations like MUIS and AMP, NUSMS acts as a platform to bring together the diverse groups of Muslims in NUS through various activities. The organization also aims to bring forth a greater understanding of Islam to the general masses, Muslims and non-Muslims alike.
NUSMS organizes a wide range of events and activities every year that try to appeal to the diverse groups of students in NUS, Muslims and non-Muslims alike. We try to achieve these through activities that is both enriching and enjoyable for the NUS community. In the past year we have had a Youth Expedition Project to India, an Iftar (breaking of fast) event during Ramadan that was popular among both local and international students, Muslims and non-Muslims alike. NUSMS has also and is still supporting many other community based projects like Kecoh-Kecoh Karnival an activity organised for childrens homes, and <65 Aid an initiative to engage Singapores growing elderly population as well as Badan Sihat Minda pun Sihat a sports and wellness activity co-organised with Tentera mosque.
In addition, NUSMS also organizes regular talks as well as sports activities for the NUS Muslim community. It is hoped that through these activities
The various events that are organized by NUSMS encourage its student members to explore and expand their individual potentials and abilities. Through the process of planning, organizing and managing events and activities, it is hoped that the student members will be leaders who will not only be able to serve the community at present, but also the society at large in the future.

He studied under many traditional Islamic teachers and was tutored by well-known religious scholars in Singapore. In 1982 he was interviewed by the Mufti Syed Esa Bin Semait together with the late Al-Fadhil al-Ustaz Syed Abdillah Al-Jufri (Allahyarhamhu) and was approved and appointed by them to teach Islam in English.
