Our Story...
This short video was made by Aidan -one of our current leaders at Cafe Church- for a Bible series we did called "Journey". We also used it in a thanksgiving service at our sending church last year.
We were sent out of Bonny Downs Church in September 2007 to reach our neigbouring community that had no dedicated evangelical witness. It was only up the road in one sence but a million miles away in another.
We only intended to stay in our old Church Hall to develop as a group and pray for our area for a short time. However, God taught us patience as we could find no venue to hold church. It was a tough time but precious and God taught us a lot. We didn't just sit on our hands as we wait. We set up Serving Sundays as a way to get to know the community & share Jesus love in a practical way.
"Go to the people of all nations and make
them my disciples." Jesus (Mat 28:19)
Eventually God opened the door for us to move into The Bobby Moore Sports Pavilion. The Pavilion is based on a 9 acre football field and is used by hundreds of people on the weekends. We could only start church after the football had finished on Sundays at 4pm. We saw this as a great opportunity to make Jesus more accessable to a number of people who would normally even consider going to church. But what sort of church would they come to?
After loooooooots of prayer and discussion we came up with Cafe Church. A place that is all about people, relationships and God's word. A place to meet, talk, be encouraged and challenged by real local Christians.
We've been running Cafe Church for a year now. This is not the end of our story, it's just the beginning. Why not come along and join us?

"Make your light
shine, so that
others will see
the good that you
do and will praise
your Father in
heaven."
Jesus (Mat 5:16)
Serving Sundays is an initiative set up by the members of Cafe Church.
On the last Sunday of each month we are making ourselves available to help out in any practical ways that you might need. We could help you paint your house, walk your dog, help you fill out forms, wash your car, do some gardening, meet for a friendly chat, or other things we can practically do.
We are willing to help anyone. There will be no charge and there is no obligation to you. Just think of us as friendly neighbours who believe this community is important because God does.
If you live in this area and would like some help please email us at:

Our Vision...
In Cafe Church we use five biblical "planks" to help us stay relevant as we seek to make this vision a reality. These planks help us build a bridge between church and our local communtiy and give us a guide to see where we need to improve.
"We want to see Jesus
changing lives, transforming
our community and
the world!"
SALT - being involved in the life of our community
"You are like salt for everyone on earth. But if salt no longer tastes like salt, how can it make food salty? All it is good for is to be thrown out and walked on." Matthew 5:13
LIGHT - being seen to serve the community
"Make your light shine, so that others will see the good that you do and will praise your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:16
DISCIPLESHIP - drawing people closer to Jesus
"Go to the people of all nations and make them my disciples. Baptise them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teach them to do everything I have told you." Matthew 28:19-20
WORK - helping people be 24/7 Christians
"Do your work willingly, as though you were serving the Lord himself, and not just your earthly master. In fact, the Lord Christ is the one you are really serving, and you know that he will reward you." Colossians 3:23-24
PRAYER - looking to God for everything
"Never give up praying. And when you pray, keep alert and be thankful." Colossians 4:2
