Class Descriptions
"Pre-Tribal" Beginning Belly Dance (Level One)
This class focuses on beginning level Middle Eastern Dance from a Tribal Style perspective! Learn the subtle nuances between the various styles of belly dance as well as build a vocabulary of movement. We will focus on isolations, drills, basic traveling steps and simple choreography. Absolutely no dance experience needed!
Intermediate Tribal Style Belly Dance (Level Two)
This class is for the student with some experience in Middle Eastern Dance. This class has a strong focus on building a repertoire of Tribal Style movements. We will begin to explore dancing as a group through improvisation. Isolations, drills, traveling steps and some choreography will be covered as well. Also studied, will be the history of Tribal Style and costuming. This class is for students that have completed at least two six-week sessions of beginner level.
Advanced Tribal Style Belly Dance (Level Three)
This class is for those students that have completed the Tribal Style class. We will focus on isolations, drills, and traveling steps. We will further our explorations into group improvisation and encourage student creativity. Combinations and choreographies will be taught and there will be opportunities for performance. You will need permission from the instructor before joining this class.
Drills and Skills (Multi-Level)
This class is perfect for the dancer that would like to add a little more to their weekly practice. The focus of this class will be to refine your technique and add some new moves to your repertoire. We will spend a portion of the class on strength training, so please bring a yoga mat and your water bottle! Be prepared to sweat! This class is for students that have completed at least one six week session of beginner level. Drop ins are welcome in this class. $12/drop in.
