Ok, here's the deal: once i got to Boston in 2001, I started playing some open mics, like the one at Passim, where I made my first friends in Boston. Then I played the Campfire Festival there a few times, started playing out at other places and recording for an amazing project called the Poppies among other things. Things were going quite well, but I always felt like I was straining my voice. After I lost my voice completely in 2002 I was diagnosed with severe GERD. Nothing seems to have fixed that problem. I did work with New England's best voice therapist, Mary Klimek, at Mass Eye and Ear - she was trying to teach me to relearn how to speak and sing, since I'd learned dysfunctional ways of doing so around all the reflux and scar tissue on my vocal cords. After several difficult months, we threw in the towel. That's when I turned to visual art, some of which deals with this loss. I hope to return to singing when it's Time - I hope you will come out to support me!
