5 Creative Ways to Add Video Content to your Website

June 30th 2014 | Web Design

Having video on your site can be a powerful way to show – instead of tell – what your business is all about. If you think videos can only be used by film makers and bands – think again. Small business owners from all industries and sectors are using videos to generate leads and sales online. This is hardly surprising considering the fact that 73% of all U.S adults are more likely make a purchase after watching an explainer video. Even if you have the most straight-forward product or service in the world, there are still plenty of ways for you to creatively use videos on your website. Here are a few ideas:

Make your ‘About’ section more personal

You’re already introducing yourself, why not talk directly to your site visitors through video? This can be a great way to show your unique personality, as well as put your best face forward. We suggest you still write a bit about about yourself or your business so your site visitors can choose the way they would like to view your information .

Vlog it! Create video tutorials and more

Blogging is a great way to put forth your expertise, useful information and tips. If you’re looking to spice things up, why not give the vlog a try? Vlogging (video blogging) can be a great way to show more of your personality and speak directly to your followers. It’s also a fantastic way of showing the exact steps of a specific task, instead of just writing guidelinges. Think about it – wouldn’t you prefer seeing how a recipe is prepared versus reading it?

Show your products in use

Even though most purchases this year will be made online, there are still so many buyers who are wary of paying for something they can’t see in full detail. Put this to rest by not only adding pictures of your products (with our awesome new eCommerce features) but by also adding a quick video showing your product in movement, being worn, or just to scale. Whatever your product does or is capable of, put your camera to good use by letting your potential customers see it in better detail.

Flip Me’s product and service are so unique that only a video can really capture the amazingness of it:

Upload those media highlights

If your business has been mentioned on TV, congrats! Now would be a great time to follow through and upload that coverage to your website. Find the right spot for it on your site (even if that means dedicating a specific page for your media coverage) and give it a short intro. Go ahead and brag a little – it’s your time to shine.

When the Fox Box were featured on TV they let the world know about it:

Dedicate a tab to your videos alone

If you’re a musician, actor, or other artist with lots of videos, this can be a good route to take. Give this page a clear heading so people know what they’re in for (like “Videos” or “Media”).
Once you’ve done this, choose the layout you want your videos to be arranged in. If you’ve got a lot of them, it might be best to list them and keep your newest vids at the top. If you have a few videos but don’t plan on adding new ones regularly, put the one you want people to watch most up at the top. This is prime real estate and is likely to get the most views.

**Tip: If you’re likely to be adding new new videos to your website, the easiest way to update your playlist and keep it organized is by using the List Builder feature. The list builder lets you  arrange and rearrange your videos any way you like, add titles and descriptions, improve SEO and your visitors experience.
