Earth Day Special: Beautiful Repurposed Design

When you bid farewell to an object you love, please don’t go to the dumpster right away.  Keep in mind that you can upcycle or repurpose almost anything. This trend of finding new usage for old stuff is part of the widespread eco-friendly movement. It literally means modifying one object so that it will have the purpose of another.

Upcycling and repurposing are not only great methods to protect the environment, they also push designers to be extra creative in their work. As you can see below, people get really crazy in coming up with new ways to use old things. A flowerpot made out of floppy disks, a street bench assembled from the leftovers of an old Chevy pickup, pets sleeping inside old TV sets – these are only a few examples of how repurposing is making the human race more innovative.
