The cat fight between HTML and Flash seems to get fiercer everyday, especially with the meteoric rise of HTML5. This dispute is keeping a lot of internet users on edge, but can’t we all just get along?
Actually, we can! Wix is where HTML5 and Flash live happily side by side. We decided to embrace the advantages of each of these great technologies and give people the option to choose. Either with Flash or with HTML5, making a beautiful website with Wix is easy like never before.

How do I add a blog to my html5 wix website? I know that I could have one if I chose a flash website through you, but I’ve ditched flash for html5 and want to connect my blog. Currently, my blog is run off a wordpress website at a different web address but I actually want it to be part of my wix website. I cant see an add blog function though in the template tools? Is this possible? Or will I need to just create a website through wordpress in order to have my blog connected rather than having a wix site?
Hi Jennifer,
The blog feature is currently available with Flash templates only, but we will add blogs to the HTML5 website builder in the near future.
Thanks!

Hi boys and girls. Nenad here. Yes, that’s a real name. First things first. There have been a lot of HTML5 vs FLASH template mambo jambo around, and that’s just fine, but the time has come to ask ourselves (and you, our dear Wix developers)- When will you add some extra features regarding file types that we can upload?
I don’t know about FLASH templates, but HTML5 templates lack a lot of things. Jennifer, for example, asked about blog (very good question). Not having a blog within web site in 2012 is like not having contact form, or social buttons, or..well you understand what am I trying to say.
On the other hand, I need .ZIP file on my page, but I can’t do it.
So, we are here thinking (no, we decided already) about going premium in a couple of weeks, but since we can’t do it like we wanna do it…maybe we will try some other soultions (probably not, but nevertheless)…SO, any chances you are going to add .ZIP files as an uploadable file option?
Thanks in advance for your answer. Sleep thight, don’t let the bugs bite (it’s 1 AM here)
May the Scwartz be with you.
Nenad

Okay, I’m going to see if I can word this in a way that doesn’t make me sound like an idiot. :) I am running a website using HTML5. It’s a bounce house rental site, and what I need is to have a gallery of the items we offer, allow customers to select the items they want, and send that list (basically like a wish list) to me. I need to be able to have a reservation-type system, where they can send me the wish list, and select a date and time when they would like to rent them. I can then check if those items are available. Also, does anyone know when Wix will offer eCommerce capabilities with HTML5 sites? I would like to be able to have customers make their deposit and also pay for the items online. If anyone can help, I would appreciate it so much! Thank you!!!
Hey Briana,
We sound perfectly fine :)
We don’t currently have that kind of forms on Wix, but you can use Wufoo (http://wufoo.com) to create a form like that, and then embed the HTML code into your Wix website using the HTML add-on.
As for eCommerce, we don’t have an ETA to share yet, but I can say that this feature is in advanced stages of development right now.

HELP!!
I am fairly new to HTML 5 and Flash but have past experience with coding. Currently I am faced with a decision between the two for an upgrade to the festival website http://www.polishfestival.ca
Purpose: Clients wants a complete make-over that looks more professional and catchy to encourage attendance to the festival.
Baggage: Lots of pages, more content, and lots of diverse web viewers both with old and new computers. There is a need for using forms for vendors and volunteers to apply through, and a need for analyzing web traffic results to the best of its ability. WordPress is a good example of how the formidable app works to create reports out of form entries, and provides descriptive analysis on traffic but I can’t stand the glitches and limitations the site has…
Deal Beaker: I need the website to be viewable for everyone if possible, and it must be mobile friendly.
2 questions:
1. Does both flash and html5 offer the option to create a personalized mobile view for hand held devices?
2. Based on my needs and the two option’s functionality at this point in time (can always convert website later if needed), which option would you pick if you were in my place?
Hi Veronica, I’d definitely go with an HTML5 website. It’s the best option in terms of smart devices accessibility. Best of luck!
How about that: wix offers only flash ecommerce sites, and these would not open on the millions of iphones out there…!!! So I say html5, and probably not with wix, since there are NO html ecommerce sites on wix!
Hi Robert, we’ll be launching HTML5-based eCommerce websites in a few weeks.
Hi,
I am the administrative assistant to my pastor, and I built our church website. We have a lot of things up on the site as of now. My question is it is in flash, but if I wanted to change over do you have an easy way in doing it so I don’t have to start from scratch?
Thank you
Hi Patricia,
We have a tool that can help you export your Flash website to HTML5. Keep in mind that these are two completely different technologies, so you might need to some work on the website afterwards. It will still save you the trouble of a complete redesign.

Hey Veronica, I’d definitely go with an HTML5 web page. It’s the best choice with regards to sensible gadgets availability.

Hi!
I’ve just signed up with wix to create a website for my products and I intend to go premium once it gets completed. I want to know whether I can add a paid membership option on my wix website.
Hi Deepak Kr. Das,
We have eCommerce tools you can use to charge your website visitors. With Flash websites, you can create password protected pages (like this), and share the password with paying customers only.
Is this what you mean?
