News & Events
Buckeyes for Canines is an Ohio State University student organization and service group dedicated to assisting man's best friends in need. B.K9 focuses on spreading awareness pertaining to our canine companions and lending a helping hand to the local dog shelters.
B.K9 meets every Monday at 7 PM in Lazenby Hall room 2 (bottom floor, enter through side doors).
B.K9 normallyVolunteers at least twice a month (2nd & 4th Sundays) and additionally as time allows. All volunteers must be oriented before volunteering, and space is limited by the number of drivers we can recruite.
We volunteer with:
Pets Without Parents- A private no kill, all breed dog and cat rescue
The Franklin County Dog Shelter- Ohio's largest County Dog Shelter
Upcoming Events
B.K9 participates in a wide variety of events. We like to include an educational twist on all of our activites, but understand that dogs are fun and most people just want a furry friend to relax with.
Dorms Events
Rallies and Signature Gathering
Play with a Puppy Days
Film showings
Special speakers/Demonstrations
If you are interested in hosting or collaborating on a B.K9 event please contact us. B.K9 volunteers most often bring several adoptables or breed ambasadors to events for students to interact and learn with.
Unfortunately Ohio is lagging behind most other states when it comes to proactive companion animal legislation. B.K9 supports many different initiatives, though our current focus is on the passage of HB 14 and the Ban Ohio Dog Auction Act.
