I have been working with Dan Gunderson for the past 18 months as a member of
the Wisconsin Outdoor Alliance an in the past 10 months as the chair of the
Wisconsin Outdoor Alliance Foundation. In the time period, I have witnessed
Dan create and manage a wide range of conservation interests from farmers
to traditional hunting and fishing groups to land conservation groups like
The Nature Conservancy. Dan has facilitated this group towards a
common goal of creating political opportunities to obtain alternative
funding for conservation in Wisconsin. This is a bit like herding cats
and Dan has demonstrated patience while moving the group forwards
towards specific outcomes such as the creation of the
Wisconsin Outdoor Education Expo.
In creating the Wisconsin Outdoor Education Expo,
Big Wild Communications has worked with state agencies
including the Department of Natural Resources, the
Department of Public Instruction, and the Department of
Tourism. He has built a solid case with all these partners
as why the Expo is important to their particular interests
and he has been effective in obtaining solid support
for the event from these government sources.
In addition, Dan and his team have created and are
in the process of implementing a marketing plan, the
event plan, and a fundraising plan for the event.
One month out from the event our work is fast and
furious, but planned and on track.
