Our bed and breakfast accommodation has been highly commended and placed in the top ten percent for overall quailty by the AA. We are close to Pelynt, Looe and Polperro and handy for the Eden Project making us an ideal touring base.We look forward to offering you a high level of personal service with informal and friendly Cornish hospitality.
Many events throughout SE Cornwall throughout the Winter seasonTRY LOOE FOR CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAREDEN PROJECTThis massive project to create huge biomes housing the plants of the world in a disused china clay pit at Bodelva Quarry, near St. Austell opened in March 2001. The Eden Project has become a major tourist attraction and the concept has gone from strength to strength. Eden welcomed over two million visitors in its first year and has exceeded 1.2 million visitors every year since then. Recently celebrating its 10th birthday, the site is constantly evolving and there is always something new to see.ENJOY CORNWALL Walking in South East CornwallWe may be biased ......but we feel there are few finer places in the UK for walking!First of all you have 33 miles of the South West Coast Path stretching from Fowey to Cremyll, ever changing scenery, hidden coves to visit and plenty of villages along the way for that lunchtime pasty or ice cream before tackling the next stretch. Most stretches are covered by regular bus services so you don't even have to walk back.Inland from the coast there are plenty of wooded valleys to explore, some dating back to the Domesday Book. Both the Looe Valley and the Tamar Valley are accessible by train, and walks packs describing walks from the stations are availiable in TICs or online.Bodmin Moor to the north of the region provides the keen walker with a chance to escape byways and highways and head out onto open moorland. Step back in time through 6000 years of history or just marvel at the rock formations

OUR LOCAL AREA

A few minutes away is the bustling village of Pelynt which has two shops and a charming public house. There is also a nice club with weekly membership available. However it also an historical village with its own church. This church, with its 14th century tower, dominates the busy village of Pelynt, but unhappily it was harshly treated by its Victorian restorers. The interior is dominated by a fine classical arcade of granite columns, erected c. 1680 to replace the Medieval pillars. Perhaps the chief attraction of the church is its association with the renowned Trelawny family. The Trelawny chapel contains many relics and an excellent brief history of the family is on sale in the church. There is a most inspiring description of Pelynt church in the glorious book "Freedom of the Parish" by the late poet Geoffrey Grigson, whose father was the vicar here.
Our story starts in the 300 acres of outstanding pasture land that surrounds Trenake Manor Farm in the lovely Cornish countryside. As far as possible we try to be self sufficient in the way we maintain and feed our herd of approaching 300 magnificent Friesian cross holstein milking cows. Our meadows are used to graze the herd on sweet lush grass and to grow / harvest Hay, Silage, Maize and Corn. Three employees, one of whom has been with the farm for over 40 years since he left school, help members of the family to seed, harvest, milk, mill and generally Maintain our historic farm which has been in the Philp family for some five generations.
During the Reformation circa 1560 monks came to live at Trenake to escape the dissolution of monasteries by the English King Henry V11. These monks are believed to be responsible for the large extension made around that time and an ancient yew tree stands as a sentinel outside the front of the house and would not have been much more than a mere seedling at the time of the monks occupation.We welcome horses to our stables and can also arrange horse riding if required together with other leisure activities.
