Purdue Plan
We would like to create a new and more efficient way to process and handle the food waste that is currently being produced by the University. Our plan is to incorporate a large scale handling facitiy in each of the dining areas to handle this load. The main aspect of this process is to cut down on the number of man hours collecting the waste as well as the number of time collections needs to be done.
Dumpster
The dumpster used will be a sealed dumpster with a hard top, much like a steal container that would be on a semi, only on a much smaller scale. This would have the a door at the end to allow for dumping as well as an access point to powerwash the inside as needed. This type of dumpster could be bought or rented.
The Conveyor System
The system that we would like to put into place would be through Brock Grain Systems that would put into place the same technology used in large swine and poultry oporations. This would use a corkscrew auger to push this ground material to the desired location. This system could handle much more that is currently needed and there can be multiple inputs for multiple grinder usage. This auger system would eliminate the need for human interaction at the point of collection until the bin is picked up.
