A few years ago, I was an unpublished author.
Each time I wrote a word, a sentence or a chapter — doubt chipped away at my writing confidence. At every turn, I found excuses not to write and I relished in the delights of the demands my life required of me.
I welcomed the responsibility of completing my master’s thesis and then my doctoral dissertation along with intensive academic research, raising two teens and a baby while homeschooling them, holding writing workshops (real and virtual) and finding the time to write — because then I could avoid the responsibility of having to deal with finishing a book I was not sure I was even qualified to finish.
Rather than surrender to a world of dying dreams and regrets, I realized my life is what I make of it. Anything is possible.
