Thank you for your interest in the 2012 Cherry Blossom Princess Program. Whether a past Princess, current participant, or future Princess, we welcome you.

The Centennial Cherry Blossom Festival Program

We are excited to be celebrating the festival's 100th Anniversary. More information about the Cherry Blossom Festival can be found at the National Conference of State Societies website: http://www.statesocieties.org/

This year is a Centennial Celebration of the gift of trees from Japan to the Nation's Capitol. Therefore, we want you to know we are going to be asking everyone for a little extra effort this year, in combination with the Princess schedule that is being developed by the Princess Committee.

Tea with the Cherry Blossom Queens and PrincessesSaturday, April 7 - 3:00pm 5:00pmRenaissance Washington, DC Hotel * 999 9th Street, NW; Washington, DC 20001In the course of the afternoon, those in attendance will craft elegant tiaras and fans befitting our future princesses with the assistance of the Cherry Blossom Princesses and an elegant tea party including scrumptious finger sandwiches, beverages, snacks and desserts.Attendees are encouraged to dress as princesses or in their finest tea party attire. During tea time, the young princesses will have the opportunity to take photos with the Cherry Blossom Queens and Princesses, along with receiving a complementary Cherry Blossom Princess Program Book that can be autographed by each of the Cherry Blossom Queens and Princesses..Reserved seating: $35/adults, $25/children under 12, those under 2 FREE.NCSS Cherry Blossom Opening Reception Saturday, April 7 7:00pm 10:00pm20 F Street Conference CenterHonoring our NCSS Past Presidents Salute to Service, please join the U.S. and Japan Cherry Blossom Queens, along with all the State, Territory and International Cherry Blossom Princesses as we enjoy an evening of good food and old friends, an entertaining talk from our guest speaker, highlights in pictures from past years, and networking in a laid back atmosphere. As the sun sets, join us on the picturesque rooftop to view the spectacular Festival fireworks show on the Washington channel as you take in fantastic views of D.C.s cherry blossoms. 20 F Street's rooftop terrace provides a unique site for our special event, with spectacular views of Union Station and the Capitol Dome, leaving our guests with an experience to be remembered for a lifetime.Reserved seating: $50/adults, $25/children under 12, those under 2 FREE.Lantern Lighting CeremonySunday April 8 - 2:30 pmTidal Basin at Independence Avenue and 17th Street S.W.In additional to celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the flowering of the cherry blossom trees, the Lantern Lighting will also mark the 59th annual lighting of the Japanese stone lantern on American soil since 1954. The event is put on by NCSS, in conjunction with the National Park Service National Capital Region. Traditional prelude music will be performed by the Toho Koto Society of Washington, DC. Songs will be performed by the Washington Japanese Choral Society and the Joint Armed Forces Color Guard of the Military District of Washington will present the colors. No charge for this event.Congressional ReceptionWednesday, April 11 - 6:00 8:00 pmLocation: Cannon Caucus Room, Cannon House Office Building; Washington, DCAn annual event since the 1950s, the event often draws more than 45 members of Congress from both houses, along with foreigndiplomats, to escort and take pictures with the Cherry Blossom Princesses from their respective state, territory, or embassy. Ambassadorand Mrs. Fujisaki will be in attendance for this historical event during the 100th Anniversary. The National Sushi Society, Inc. will bepserving sushi with complementary Sapporo Beer. Reservations required.Cherry Blossom Princess LuncheonThursday, April 12, 11:30 am-1:00pmRenaissance Washington, DC Hotel * 999 9th Street, NW; Washington, DC 20001Join the U.S. and Japan Cherry Blossom Queens, along with all the State, Territory, and International Cherry Blossom Princesses, the Dogwood Queens and Princesses, along with our other international guests from Japan, for a wonderful luncheon and our keynote speaker, Shannon Vinson a USAF Captain and former Cherry Blossom Princess. Additionally, the Princesses will be providing the entertainment with their many versatile talents. Fellowship and festival spirit fuse together in this lively and lovely spring luncheon. Valet Parking is available on the premises or lot parking across the street.Reserved seating: $55/adults, $25/children under 12, those under 2 FREE.Official Coronation of the 2012 US Cherry Blossom Queen & 100th Anniversary Cherry Blossom Grand BallFriday, April 13 - 6:00pm - 12:00amRenaissance Washington, DC Hotel * 999 9th Street, NW; Washington, DC 20001Capping the NCSS week of activities during the Centennial Celebration of the Gift of Trees, is the coronation of the 2012 U.S. Cherry Blossom Queen from the U.S. Cherry Blossom Princesses. Begin this elegant black-tie affair with a sushi reception, hosted by the JapanSushi Association, Mu Sake, and Sapporo Beer, along with a Silent Auction, in the Grand Foyer of the Ballroom. When the doors open, you will proceed inside the Grand Ballroom for 3-course dinner, the presentation of the Cherry Blossom Princesses, the crowning of the 100th Anniversary 2012 U.S. Cherry Blossom Queen and an evening of dancing. Valet Parking is available on the premises or lot parking across the street.Reserved seating: $150/adults, $75/children under 12, those under 2 FREE.National Cherry Blossom Parade®Saturday, April 14 - 10:00am 12:00 noonConstitution Avenue, NWBilled as the largest spectator event in Washington, DC, this exciting parade, featuring giant balloons, floats, bands, and specialty groups, will be simulcast, live on WJLA-ABC7. Included is the newly crowned 100th Anniversary 2012 United States Cherry Blossom Queen and her Japan counterpart along with the U.S. and International Princesses. For the first time, we will have returning Japan and US Cherry Blossom Queens and the Cherry Blossom Princess Pi Alpha Kappa Sorority floats. Come and enjoy this event with the U.S. and International Princesses at the NCSS Tent. Our tent allows attendees to donate to the Cherry BlossomTree Maintenance Foundation.
