What is Wraptor?
Wraptor is clientless application virtualization product which uses Accarios' VirtuaWrapper technology to make the deployment of remote access easier for customers by virtualizing all the components needed to connect to their VPN (EPA client, ICA client, etc...).
There are two components with Wraptor, a client and a management server. The client recieves configuration changes and software updates via a web service from the management server.
Wraptor can run from any read/write storage that Windows can access such as a SD-card, iPod, Blackberry, PDA, encrypted USB key or a hard disk.
It is a zero footprint solution, requiring no installation or administrator rights, changes nothing on the machine and leaves nothing behind.
Product summary
Wraptor Remote is designed for remote access users working from typically non-corporate devices such as third party contractors, home workers or corporate partners.
Wraptor SOS is designed for remote access users in a disaster recovery or business continuity situation. Wraptor SOS is preconfigured by the administrator and placed on a web accessible location such as the employee section of the website, then in the event of a DR situation, the user simply downloads and runs the software from whatever PC they are able to access.
No changes to configuration, no need to remember complex URL's and Wraptor SOS automatically disables after 30 days, so no worries about leaving the doors open.
Using Wraptor
Wraptor is a solution for users that require remote access from non-corporate devices, e.g. a home PC or a third party site. Wraptor Remote is typically run from removeable media such as a USB key and carried with the user.
The user simply plugs in the device, Wraptor can autorun from the device, the user enters a password and Wraptor launches either its own packaged browser (Firefox) or will virtualize the local instance of Internet Explorer.
Any temporary files, downloads, cookies and so on are stored on the device not the PC. The user can simply unplug and walk away.
There is no cache and no footprint left behind to clean up, it is all stored within the VirtuaWrapper environment.
Most organizations choose to use an encypted USB key to run Wraptor so if the device is lost there is no compromise in security. In adddition, many organizations will treat the USB + Wraptor as their corporate device, meaning they can remove laptops for certain groups of remote users and allow them to use an untrusted machine securely.
Wraptor is available in two flavors; Wraptor Remote for full time remote access or Wraptor SOS for DR on demand.
