What is EPAFactory?
EPAFactory was created in 2006 to provide a series of add-on scans for the Citrix Access Gateway Advanced, specifically, to deliver a solution to the problem of detecting the presence of anti-virus software and whether it was up to date.
This problem was solved through the use of OPSWAT technology (also used by Juniper, f5, Cisco) with an OEM agreement to create a product called EPdetect.
The EPAFactory product set was extended to meet customer and Citrix requests for further environment scans as part of the EPscan family.
Today there are now two series' of products one for Citrix Access Gateway Advanced Edition, the other for Citrix Access Gateway Enterprise edition.

EPdetect: anti-malware scans
One of the biggest challenges using Citrix Access Gateway is finding a solution to detect a comprehensive list of products such as anti-virus, personal firewalls and anti-spyware when scanning a PC and then ensuring the products are up to date and switched on.
EPdetect is the solution, using the same technology from OPSWAT as Juniper, f5 and Cisco, EPdetect is able to detect the presensce and status of over 700 anti-malware products in a single pass.

EPscan: environment assessment scans
Scanning for anti-virus and personal firewalls is typically the headline scan for most Citrix Access Gateway implementations. However, end point analysis can do a whole lot more.
Over the last four years we have developed EPscan, a set of environment assessment scans that can be used to determine various attributes about an end point device such as its geographic location or whether it has a digital certificate installed.
These scans allow an organization to create a series of granular access scenarios to meet their security and access policies.

EPAFactory Enterprise 9.0
Recompiled for the Citrix Access Gateway Enterprise, EPAFactory Enterprise, is one product containing both EPdetect and EPscan which is licensed per CAG Enterprise appliance.
Included within the product is the new EPAFactory Console, which is a GUI tool to assist in the creation of expressions and scans, in a familiar drag and drop environment.
The console will also upload the EPAFactory Enterprise software and any rules you have created to the Citrix gateway at the touch of a button - no need for SSH at the command line!
