Building Bridges Through Music, Inc.
is a nonprofit, multicultural performing arts organization, established and incorporated in April 2002 as a 501 (C) (3) tax-exempt, charitable organization.
Our community choir, known as Follow Hymn Interfaith Choir has performed annually since 2000.
Our mission
is to bring together diverse neighboring communities for the purpose of increasing cultural awareness and racial harmony using music, dance and dramatic presentation as a multicultural educational tool.
Our name reflects our organizational growth, expansion of our mission and to commitment to create greater opportunities for community involvement.
Our community youth outreach programs in particular reflect our goal to develop and implement a broad ranging education through performance program for youth.
Our future goal is to initiate programs for those facing physical challenges, disabilities and who have a desire to be a part of the performance community.

Our programs bring youth of different neighboring communities of the North Shore and beyond together for the purpose of increasing cultural awareness and racial harmony using music, dance and dramatic presentation as a multicultural educational tool.

MUSIC BY AND FOR THE PEOPLE
This multicultural music education program is designed to introduce and educate children ages 8-16 and adults of the North Shore to the musical contributions of African American, Latino, Native and European American music legends of various time periods of America.
The objectives will be accomplished by bringing specially trained professional actors, dancers, and musicians to engage youth in performing arts learning activities.
Information to be presented by individuals, such as experts in the field of the history of the Jazz Era; musicians who specialize in the musical disciplines comprised of Gospel, Jazz and Blues, and other genres, who have the ability to reach all participants and audiences, with age appropriate presentation techniques. The program is comprised of several components:
Workshops, Lectures, Musical Theater & concert
performances.
Illumination From The Mountaintop
Musical theatre, history Lesson based on the struggle for Civil rights in America
Written and Musically directed by: John DiTomaso
Artistically directed and Scripted by: Robb Dimmock
Student cast and audience experience the influence of music on the civil rights movement and vice versa.
The musicians to name a few:
Pete Seeger, Gil Evans, Alan Lomax, Nina Simone, Miles Davis, Marvin Gaye, Peter, Paul and Mary and Mahailia Jackson and the freedom fighters, such as MLK, JFK, RFK and Lyndon B. Johnson, Rosa Parks and all those who marched in the face of adversity and believed that all men, women and children were created equal and freedom was an inhalable right.

RSVP 101
A week-long program for children to learn peaceful conflict resolution and the promotion of world peace through their social actions and personal examples.
The methods used involve music, arts and crafts activities, stories, videos, skits, movement and sign language; personal testimonies of the trainers and opportunities to put the Pledge into practice during the camp. Children are also introduced to use of drum circles.
Camp takes place the 2nd week of July.
Camp is available to children ages 8-10 and is lead by high school and college camp leaders.
The training of youth leaders lasts one week, taking place 2-3 weeks prior to peace camp.
A course which introduces the rules of social and performance etiquette for elementary and middle school age children.
Volunteers are the heart and soul of Building Bridges Through Music, Inc.
They enable the organization to engage members of our community in exciting and enriching programs and events. Some of the areas which volunteers are needed are:
• marketing and advertising
•networking, ie, facebook , twitter, youtube, etc.
•event planning
•event decorating
•office assistance
• program ushers
•fundraising
•program and educational assistants
• stage personnel, such as ushers and set
designers/builders
•audio/video; technical support
•Professional musicians
All members participate voluntarily.
Building Bridges has been embraced by community volunteers and is publicly supported by contributions from grants, local businesses and private contributions.
