KCBS started in the backyards (where all great 'queue's begin) of a few friends who liked to gather and enjoy "que. Of course the conversation always came around about who had the best 'que. This friendly banter evolved into what has now become a nationally recognized organization that includes thousands of members, competition teams, coast to coast competitions and hundreds of thousands of dollars in awards and sponsorships. KCBS is responsible for sanctioning all events. If an event is a State Championship they must submit proof of this status. All judges are certified through classes that meet the KCBS criteria and all competitions are required to have KCBS Event Organizers on site.

KCBS keeps track of all competition points and published the Bull Sheet, a monthly publication that follows the "que circuit. KCBS is serious about the integrity of all competitions and those who are involved with them. All competitions have to meet certain guidelines to protect the validity of the points and the competitors. KCBS has a website www.kcbs.us that is very informative. You can look up your favorite team, find a judges class or local competition, or get a great recipe for tonight's dinner. KCBS is synonymous with 'que and all that goes with it.
