Our 2012 show "CELEBRATIONS" is booked at Baycourt for Sept 7th & 8th.
All students are involved and some of the costumes will be bought in LA when Amy goes over in June! WOOP!

What a great day full of fantastic dancing and friendship!
Some of the costumes for SMASHDANCE were purchased in LA & LAS VEGAS when Amy was there with her students Millie Van Kol ( Sourcedance scholarship winner )
Hannah Reid & Louise Coulter ( 2009 scholarship winner ), earlier in 2011.
All 3 girls competed at the US Starpower Dance Nationals in Las Vegas
and had a blast!
They also got to take master class in LA at The Edge & Millenium dance studios
with International Choreographers!

Classes
Fun movement based class for 2.5yrs upwards.We cover gallops , skips , jumps , boogies , spins etc all to age appropriate 'lively' music.Suitable for boys & girls.Mondays & Tuesdays only.
JAZZ
Beginner Jazz : Transition class from Move n Groove to Junior jazz. Suitable for 5 - 6yr olds.
Fun , groovy class to learn the basics.
Junior level : 7 - 8yrs.steps from level 1 - 3 Kicks, turns, leaps, shakes, hips etc combined with good jazz technique
Intermediate levels : 9 - 12yrs.steps from levels 4 - pre Ele
All of the above plus hitch kicks , side leaps , backbends , mounts all with a funkygroove
Advanced levels : 12yrs plus.steps from Pre Ele and beyond
All of the above put into short routines with a focus on leaps , turns , attitude and performance
HIP HOP - studio or music video styled hiphop - Boys & girls
Beginner & Junior Hip hop: This class would suit children 5 - 8 yrs. It focuses on foundation hip hop moves.
Bounce, groove and attitude are needed in all hip hop classes!
Intermediate hip hop : 9 - 12yrs. Next level up from Junior Hip hop.More emphasis on some street moves and tricks
Advanced hip hop : Focuses more on learning routines filled with tricks and medium/adv leveled
hip hop steps to all the latest music.Routines are choreographed like music videos.Not a street hiphop class. but it does cover some basic street styles , shuffling , popping etc.Age 13yrs to adults
Contemporary / Lyrical
Junior - Inter Lyrical : From 7yrs upwards.This class covers lyrical moves such as , hops , leaps , sways , soft flowing movement. Similar to barefoot ballet but with a bit more style.definatly not ballet.Great for improving jazz technique .
Adv1 & Adv2 Contemporary / Lyrical : You need to be atleast 12 yrs to do these class.
Covers lyrical movements and contemporary componants
Acro
Acro : From 5yrs. Focuses on teaching gymnastic moves that can be incorperated into dance , such as cartwheels , walkovers , handstands then more advanced moves like handsprings etc. Three levels : Beginners ,Intermediate & Advanced
Taught by a qualified Gym coach - Le Webb.
2012 Fees
To secure your space fees can be prepaid 2 weeks before each term starts, otherwise fees need to be paid no later than the end of the second week of each term (space permitting)
Fee's are calculated off an 8 week term. For terms with more than 8 weeks - the extra classes are complementary!
Fee's are non - refundable but can be transferred.
If a class is cancelled there will be a make up class scheduled so you are always gauranteed 8 lessons per term minimum
1 x 30min class a week $60 per term ( Move n Groove )
1 x 45min class a week $90 per term ( Beginner classes )
1 x 1 hour class a week $110 per term ( Most inter & Adv classes )
Acro 1 x 45min class a week $100 per term ( Level 1 )
Acro 1 x 1 hour class a week $125 per term ( Level 2 - 4 )
Multi class discount :
2 classes get 3% off your total
3 classes get 8% off your total
4 classes get 12% off your total
5th & subsequent classes are FREE!
Fee's are capped at 4 classes per week - BONUS!
Family discount - receive an extra 3% off your total if 2 students enroll
from the same family and 5% discount if 3 students enroll from the same family.
4th child is FREE.

DIRECTOR
JAZZ TAP LYRICAL CONTEMPORARY HIPHOP MOVE N GROOVE & COMPETITION TEACHER
Amy Yorke is the managering Director of Dance Avenue. Amy started teaching as a junior teacher in Tauranga and continued teaching for 10 years gaining her teachers qualifications in Ballet , Jazz & Tap before branching out and opening her own dance school in 2009.
After teaching exam work for 10 years Amy has decided to change the way she was teaching as she was finding kids being restricted by exams levels. Amy saw many children getting bored in class because they were physically capable of alot harder moves and combinations but because they were stuck in a particluar exam level were not able to be fully extended to their full potential.
Amy loves to dance but especially loves to see her students dancing to the very best of their ability.
Amy started dancing learning BBO ballet from age 4 then progressed to jazz and tap and finally into Musical Theatre , hip hop , contemporary & lyrical.
She has choreographed 4 big shows for the Tauranga Musical Theatre including the NZ premier of Copacabana and 2009's musical sensation CATS.
Amy has also taught hiphop/funk at St Marys , Tauriko & Greenpark Primary schools for the past 6years.It works well especially for the children who have parents that work and can't get their children to after school dance classes.With Amy going in either before school or at lunchtime to teach classes means that those children don't have to miss out on learning to dance.
Amy is married with 2 small children who both have a love for music and dance , and a loving husband with lots of patience : )
Le Webb - Acro dance
Le Webb joined Dance Avenue this year to teach the Acrodance classes. Le is a qualified Gymnastic coach and personal trainer with her own 24 hour fitness studio in Papamoa - Form Gym. Le is fantastic with the kids and has really extended them this year. It did not take long for a lot of the class to do walk overs and handsprings and that is a credit to Le's teaching and patience.
In addition to working with the kids on technical gym moves Le also works with both adults and children on a one on one basis for flexibility, endurance, strength and conditioning, rehabilitation and nutrition.
