Community Education Project
The Ballybeg Education Project is a young person and family centered support service, which works with Primary and Secondary School students living in the community of Ballybeg.
It works from a multi-agency ethos, which promotes the inclusionof all agencies and organisations that work towards promoting the well being of young people in terms of their education and other aspects of their lives.
Project Coordinator:
email: educationproject_ballybegcdp.ie
How Is This Achieved?
During the academic year 55 young people attend the project up to 4 times weekly for an average of 2-3 hours per visit. During this time they have a quiet place to study and receive assistance with homework. Primary school members also receive 1 to 1 attention in regard to spellings, tables and reading. Secondary young people also receive extra support in small group tutorials in various exam subject areas.
Other Supports Available
The project runs a comprehensive Youth Work programme delivered in a Group Work setting aimed at further developing social and personal skills, communication, personal development and growth, decision making skills and other issue based areas identified through communication with the young people. Young people also receive individual support, guidance and mentoring.
