Seattle Alumnae Panhellenic
By Michelle Mattoon, Co-Delegate
Seattle Alumnae Panhellenic is gearing up for another year of activities. Our fall planning meeting was held on September 29 to discuss upcoming events. Not only have we expanded our annual meeting schedule from three to five meetings this year; we anticipate participating in several activities, including a high school forum night, Greek awards night (Panhellenic scholarship presentation), a Bunco fundraiser, and UW Relay for Life.
I am currently looking for a co-delegate to help me serve in this fun position. While I am available to attend most meetings/events, it would be really helpful to have a co-delegate, or an active alternate that would be able attend in my absence. Meeting alumnae from other sororities, exchanging ideas and socializing has been rewarding for me for these past two years, and I plan to continue in this capacity for the foreseeable future. The time commitment is not great at this point in time and all meetings are pre-scheduled already so planning is easy. Join me, won’t you? If you have any questions, please contact me at emmattoon_comcast.net.
Overlake Alumnae Panhellenic
By Elora Erickson, Co-Delegate
Overlake Panhellenic is composed of 19 of the national groups. We meet on the 2nd Thursday in October, January, March and May at members homes at 10 a.m.
Our biggest project is a Scholarship Luncheon held each December at the Overlake Golf and Country Club. We also have a wine Party at a member's home to raise money for the scholarships we award to high school seniors attending eastside high schools. This last spring we gave 11 girls a $300 scholarship each.
Another activity is our Spring Forum. This is to acquaint high school girls and their parents with the Greek system. This is held at the Bellevue Library, at 7 p.m. Our program includes representatives of other Washington colleges as well as the Panhellenic Officers from the UW and David Hotz 'who heads the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life at UW. We also, have a house director on the program. It is an informational meeting and parents and students are free to ask questions.
Gloria Woodward and Elora Erickson have represented Alpha Chi Omega for many years and would like to have someone else take over. If you are interested please contact Elora at 425-462- 7106.
