About AWAke InternationalAWAke International, an Association for World Affairs, is a Tilburg University student association whose primary aim is to create awareness of global issues, focusing on human rights, development and the environment. Providing opportunities for students to take action with regards to global issues is AWAke's secondary goal.Awareness is the first step towards understanding, finding solutions and acting towards positive change. We are therefore dedicated to creating and maintaining awareness of global issues, whether of a political, economical, social or legal nature. We feel that it is important that students maintain their awareness throughout their studies and future careers, and hope that once they are in the position to make decisions, whether big or small, they will do so conscious of these issues.In order to promote awareness, AWAke organises discussion drinks, monthly articles, trips and whatever else our members want to organise! Past opportunities for action have included volunteering trips, clothes or CD collections, cooking for the homeless and fundraising parties.

Interested in organizing charity parties, doing volunteerswork and organizing the whole event, making a magazine, organizing discussion drinks or promoting our Awake events? If you are interested to help Awake International in one (or more) committees just contact us at info_awakeinternational.nl. We are always looking for motivated students!
Home & Foreign Affairs CommitteeDo you want to be active in organizing the Awake Awards, trips abroad, volunteer work, such as cloth collections, dinners for the homeless and other cool charity events? Then join the Home & Foreign Affairs Committee. The only limit to the appealing projects is your creativity!
Discussion DrinkCommitteeDo you feel the need of discussing thought provoking events that influence our world today, then join the Discussion Drink Committee. Organize debates and discussions with students and professionals in the political, social and economical field. Find your topic of interest, work out different points of view and find representative guest speakers.
Magazine CommitteeJoin the Magazine committee and spread the word of awareness. We attempt to do this by publishing articles and columns on current issues or long-term dilemma's in order to get the debate going. As a committee member you will brainstorm on topics, search for qualified writers, occasionally write yourself. Join this committee and expess yourself!Ana MuresanMichael Suurendonk
Festivity CommitteeAre your skills or interests in organizing events and parties? Then the Festivity Committee is the one for you. Be involved in developing the whole process of making an event or a party memorable by including your own ideas! AWAke Parties are mostly fundraising parties, where we try to get as much people to join our events and try to raise as much money as we can for the charities! Interested in this challenge? Join the party committee!!

Organisations and possibilities
Deciding to do volunteerswork is not difficult. It becomes more difficult when you have to decide where to go and what to do. Should you stay in the Netherlands or go abroad? Go to a country where you already know the language or not? And what kind of volunteerswork should you do? So many questions and so many possibilities. And that is why Awake is launching a Volunteer Platform. We will help you find a location, an organisation and help you plan the whole experience! We are currently in negotiation with several organisations and will soon post the volunteer organisations that we are working with online, so you can have a better insight in how we can help you.
