OUR STORY
New Horizon Foundation was born in the town of Cabarete, Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, and was started by a group of people with the motivation and desire to contribute their knowledge, time, and talents in order to offer a better and brighter future to the vast disadvantaged segment of our population.
From our 2005 beginnings, we formed a partnership with a small school in Islabon, we offered French and English language lessons, crafts, painting and sewing. Soon, by means of workshops, we taught ecological awareness to the children and young adults, as way to know and to be able to protect their environment.
With the intention of bringing basic skills and the ability to be self sustained as a community, we established a Center of Crafts in the locality of Poncho Mateo, Llano Mount, province of Puerto Plata, to teach the young adults and specially women in crafts, sewing, and acrylic painting.
As of September, 2008, we opened our Education Center, in the locality of Poncho Mateo. We offer quality education to: Haitian, Dominican, Dominican-Haitians children with the great support of our personnel and volunteers.
With contribution of didactic materials, scholastic books, equipment and a daily food ration, the students have a possibility of better quality of life and a more promising future."

New Horizon Foundation was founded in 2005 as a nonprofit foundation. It is promoting an integral and intellectual development of the human being at different levels. Since that time a group of: professionals, technicians, teachers, and engineers, who are aware of the real problems of people, are working in order to improve the living conditions of everyone in the community.
MISSION
Nuevo Horizonte (New Horizon) Foundation is non-profit human service organization providing: assistance, daycare, social services and recreational activities for low-income children and families at risk in inner cities of Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic and Haiti.
VISION
Our vision is to establish New Horizon Foundation as an organization with the capacity to offer: assistance, education, and quality work to a larger community.

WHAT WE DO
After an objective analysis of the living condition and all the real needs of some segment of our society, the New Horizon Foundation has dedicated itself to get involve in the following domains:
Education/Training
New Horizon Foundation is developing a training course to empower men and women to become involved in our community. The training program will enable them to conduct action research into the needs of their community.
We are creating opportunities for training and education in the following fields: electrical, construction, and plumbing, agriculture and technology.
Culture
Creating a permanent interchange between young Dominican students and students worldwide for the benefit of all.
Develop artistic talent of children.
Health
Improve the populations health by education and training. Teach preventative measures to:
promote health and wellbeing
programs for immunization of AIDS / HIV
launch radio programs to foster awareness about AIDS/HIV for young people
participate in workshop style programs for community and psychological assistance
ACTIVITIES
Aware that the only way to achieve real growth, development, and change in our society is through education, Nuevo Horizonte Foundation has designed training programs that will enable individuals learn a trade that will help create a better foundation for their future.
