Currently a San Antonio resident, this California girl has managed to get her foot in the door fairly quickly. As a live painter for various art events, she has learned to make artistic decisions in compostition, as well as color and subject matter, in a moments time. Her portraits of women are rendered in easy flowing lines with soft hues that transcend the typical critiques of feminine beauty, inherent in todays self conscious society.
Ashlee graduated in 2001 with a BFA in Communication Arts and Illustration from Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles. Since graduation she has been told on many occasions that her paintings are dark and sometimes menacing, with an obvious appreciation for beautiful women. She is drawn to the isolated experience as an illustrator, as it gives her a chance to work on her own narratives. Each portrait is a story with heroines in a world that either reflect or appease personal feelings or ideas that she herself has maintained.
