BEHIND THE LENS

My interest in art and imagery began at a very young age in those solitary moments in my room with a pad of paper and pencils scetching things that I found interesting.Other than at times experimenting with a camera or two it wasn't till around the 10th grade when I discovered that I may have a talent of capturing life around me on film... thus began my photojournalistic interest in photography.From there I wanted to learn everything about photography and how to make amazing images like those I saw in magazines, newspapers and galleries.By the time I graduated high school I had been published in local newspapers and won an award or two... and that was back in the day of processing my own film and prints and countless amounts of hours in my tiny make-shift darkroom.Three decades later I still carry that passion, still learning and experimenting with new technology as well as revisiting the old school ways, never forgeting the fundimentals that make photography fun and creatively fulfilling.My early years were spent in my hometown of Berkeley California in an amazing time of of creativity, self expression, socio-political energy and incredible cultural diversity.I have since spent my adult years just south in sunny Santa Barbara where natural beauty is the backdrop.Having lived in both environments has made my vision more well rounded as a photographer where I am not afraid to tackle the dirty urban scene then turn around and face the soft tranquility of the natural world, both challenging in their own way yet so fun and stimulating.newspapersPORTFOLIOPage 0
