Since I was very young, l used to draw and paint on the walls of my bedroom and my parents saw that as signal of my abilities.
Then I was discovered by Don Luis A. Ferre, founder of the Museum of Art in Ponce, Puerto Rico.
Studied fine arts with Jose Azaustre, in Ponce, Puerto Rico. In 1967 I moved to New York and studied graphic arts.
In 1970, I took over the art department in the Offices of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico in New York.
At the same time I designed albums covers for latino musicians such as Tito Puente, Ray Barretto, Ruben Blades etc.
Through my studio, I was constantly in touch with the hispanic community in the 70s and 80s, working with magazines, ad agencies and participating on exhibitions with different galleries.
In 1979 I meet Dr. Mario GarcĂa, one of the top newspapers designer in the world and professor at Syracuse University. With this 'guru', I had the honor to be his assistant on the redesigning of 'El Diario La Prensa' in New York and other publications around the world... It was a new path for my career.
Since then, my life has been very successful, working with top artists in the graphic arts, as an illustrator, cartoonist, newspaper designer, magazine designer and of course as a painter.
I' ve been in Puerto Rico Rico since 1985, and since then, a very successful experience in El Mundo (1985-91) and El Vocero de Puerto Rico (92' until now) and a free lancer with Santillana Editorial as an illustrator.
I' ve been in the business for the last 35 years and believe me, this is a never ending world, new macs, new fonts and a new generations.
But wait, besides my Mac... I still have my drawing table
and a lot of new ideas!
