BEHIND THE ARTIST
Joshua has been pusblished in the Boston Globe and his work has been sold to NBA players. He has painted reality show stars, has work displayed across New England, Miami, and internationally through Holland America Cruise Line. Also known as the "Live Artist" for painting live in front of audiences at events. Joshua's style relies heavily on the imagination while taking elements of Cubism, Dalism, Iconography, Urban Realism and fusing them into the realm of abstraction, creating an art form unique to the history of art.
CHARACTERISTICS OF NOTE
Oliveira never paints from subject matter that exists in the real world, he never paints from landscapes, photos, or any life like objects. Rather he strives to create imagery that cannot be captured by camera or computer. He attempts to take elements of the unseen (abstractions) with the seen (realism) and merge them in middle somewhere.
CREATIVE PROCESS
Oliveira paints in a stream of consciousness, seamlessly creating in a spontaneous flow. In this way he merges with the Universal Source of Creation, activated through his subconscious mind. He never sketches, premeditates, or plans a piece of art.
FUTURE PLANS
Joshua believes there is an artist in every person, a creativity that is integral to the human spirit. It is his life long passion to help each individual recognize this truth and find ways to live out that expression. It is his goal to bring low cost art centers to children all over the world.

While many of us get to experience art in its finished state, very few of us get to experience the creative process in action. Joshua Oliveira, a self taught artist from Mass is enabling public audiences from New York to Bermuda to witness the creative process of fine art in person.
Setting up a blank canvas with no set color palette or pre-determined design in mind, the moment is what dictates his next stroke. As the music starts, Oliveira begins to paint in a stream of subconsciousness, feeding off the energy of the crowd and music, seamlessly translating it to canvas.
He enjoys the pressure and spontaneity,"There is a rush painting in front of a crowd of people, a tension that cannot be duplicated in a controlled studio environment." A unique synergy between the arts of music, dance, and painting unfolding together organically is what makes these events something to be a part off.

I paint through intuition in an unpremeditated manner, with an inability to fully realize what Im creating until its complete. My style revolves heavily upon the imagination and spiritual connection as it is the places where I pull my imagery and inspiration from.
I am more concerned with exploring new techniques and fresh imagery than being branded by one style. Psychological and visual juxtapositions create a polarity that is stimulating to me. Ive been told that the people in my art look unhappy and I say they are simply empathizing with what is incomplete in us all.
