BACKGROUND
Background
The Bet is a contemporary, character driven psychological drama that tells a fully-realized story in less than 8 minutes. Written by Anthony Straeger and with extra material from Don Allen the story twists and turns in its given time. The initial idea came as a series of shorts that would link together to create a broader story. So as such this is The BET Part 1/the bluff.
Shot on HDV over a single weekend in February 2011 with a limited budget (less than 1000 euros) and to make matters slightly more difficult only 6 hours of daylight per day with mean average temperature of minus ten centigrade. Testing to say the least and the cast and crew had to be ultra efficient in order to compete and survive in the allotted time.
The team comprised of 2 English and 4 Germans, the same score as in the 2010 World Cup.
Composer Per R. Ø. Salkowitsch a Norwegian living in Vienna provides an unnerving electronic based score that maintains the intensity throughout.
