She was so excited after the class and she invited her hubby to sample piece of lapis cake that she brought home. No comments from him as usual, which is always the case.
A week later, she finally geared all her courage and invited her aunties, cousin and sisters to her house for the baking session. Obviously she made a blunder as the mixing machine and the oven gave her lots of problems. But she did manage to bake a lapis cake and she actually uses about 5 hours to do it. Just couldn't believe it. All her aunties, cousin and sisters were all so tired but were very happy when the cake is out from the oven. Though its not very fantistic, everyone enjoyed it and everyone packed a little piece for their family members to try.
During the next session of baking, the mixer gave her problems again as it works and stops quite often. So on the very Saturday, she brought the Kenwood mixer to the agent for servicing as its still under the warranty period. So the motor was replaced as its wasn't working. No wonder.
Next the oven. Yummy was trying to bake the lapis cake again & realised that the top heating element is not working. She again called for the agent and the top heating element was replaced. So she thought baking might just not her cup of tea. But her interest in baking grew so tremendously that she attended baking demonstration every Saturday.
FIRST touch
Ever wonder when yummy 1st uses her brand new Electrolux oven when she shifted into her new house? The only big item that she specifically requested from her hubby and her very 1st oven she is going to own.
That was in year 2003. Yummy was so eager to test her oven but she had very little knowledge on baking. Just that bit of lessons that she had in her secondary school home economics lesson. She finally went to a Community Club to learn the Art of baking a lapis cake with her colleagues. She was so fierce as baking a lapis cake is no joke a simple task. Its just a 3 hrs lesson. She had very minimal hands on as the class was quite big. Finally she is able to get hold onto a chance to lay a few layers of the cake. She's was overjoyed. That's it. So she was thinking.... hmmm.... can I make it only with this much of hands on?
