University of Missouri - Eta Chapter
"Sisterhood is not a destination, but a journey." -Unknown
Alpha Phi Gamma at the University of Missouri is an advocate for Asian Awareness and a positive organization for women to be involved in. We do a lot for our community, on and off campus.

Get to know us, you'll like us.
Alpha Phi Gamma was founded on February 1, 1994 as the first Asian American Interest Sorority at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. Our Founders are: Allex Choi, Candy Cunanan, Christine Nguyen, Sandie Rillera, Kolleen Kim, Grace Hsieh, and Jennifer Oku. These Sisters wanted to bring together all women of different nationalities through the bonds of friendship and sisterhood. The sorority was established to promote service and Asian Awareness to the University and to the community, while allowing for discovery of other cultures. For its members, Alpha Phi Gamma promotes leadership and academic excellence.
A group of women saw the need for a support system for Asian-American women at the University of Missouri. Their desire was to giving Asian-American women a stronger voice and teach the community to become more open-minded to different cultures. On May 28, 1999, the Charter Class composed of: Yung-Yi Hsieh, Jennifer Kuo, Elizabeth Morris, Kathy Pham and Sarah Wilcox brought Alpha Phi Gamma to the University of Missouri as a Colony.
On January 21, 2006, the colony was successfully re-chartered by the Gamma Class consisting of: Theresa Dinh, Amelia Hadisiswanto, Katie Huang, Jamie Kanki, Chung-Mei Kao, Paula Kim, Jollene Kuo, Anna Lim, and Denise Link.
The Colony was granted recognition as Alpha Phi Gamma's Eta Chapter on July 18, 2009.
The women in this organization are dedicated to bringing Asian-American Awareness to the community as well as keeping a sisterhood that will last a lifetime.
Alpha Phi Gamma is the first Asian-interest sorority in the entire state of Missouri.
Alpha Phi Gamma's official National
Philanthropy is the Fight Against Violence
Towards Women. Our Sisters across the
nation have committed their efforts in volunteering with local shelters and organizations, and raising funds for this cause. In November 2009, Alpha Phi Gamma strengthened their committment by becoming a member of the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV), is a non-profit grassroots membership organization working to: 1. eliminate domestic violence, 2. empower victims of domestic violence, 3. unite our voices, 4. alert and educate the public, and 5. build partnerships.

What is Rush?
Rush, also known as Recruitment, occurs towards the beginning of each semester. It is an opportunity for students learn more about Greek Life, and more specifically, Alpha Phi Gamma, without any commitment. This 1-2 week period consists of events that give you the opportunity to find out more about us, hang out with us, ask questions, and decide if Alpha Phi Gamma is right for you. Most importantly, it gives you a chance to discover what it means to be part of Alpha Phi Gamma. By becoming a Sister of Alpha Phi Gamma, you will learn a lot about yourself as well as build close friendships with some of the strongest and most independent women at the University of Missouri.
How much does it cost?
All Rush events are free to you, and rides can be provided, if needed!
Do I have to be Asian-American to join?
No, although Alpha Phi Gamma is an Asian-interest sorority, we are not Asian-exclusive. Our sorority takes pride in its diversity of members, and will not discriminate in terms of race, color, sexual orientation, national origin, physical ability, marital status, financial or social status.
How do I become considered?
Women interested in Alpha Phi Gamma must attend at least one Informational Night, one Sisterhood, Interviews, and any other required event that may be mentioned during Rush. Initial consideration also requires a minimum 2.2 GPA and enrollment at the University of Missouri.
