On the 29th of June 2011, I went to Las Vegas to perform at the Elvis Fest. I had the priviledge of stepping on the same stage where Elvis himself sung hundreds of times. It was breathtaking. I won the fans "Best Appearence" award. Thank you so much.
I was hired to impersonate Elvis in a sketch to promote the portuguese version of "American Idol". There's no greater american idol than Elvis.
I'm about to release a brand new album with original songs. The influence of the King is, of course, present in each song. I hope you will like it. I included some of the first songs I ever wrote, a couple of new ones and some fresh tunes writen by great friends and talented musicians/authors such as Monte James, Steve Byrum, the late Jim Purcey from California and Dave Lamb from London. My childhood friend, guitar player, Joe Jesus co-wrote a couple of tunes with me some 10 years ago. We made new arrangements and I believe they sound great.
On the 16th of August, the aniversary of the King's death, I performed live with the whole band on S.I.C. TV, one of the major TV Stations in Portugal
We have rehearsed a brand new show and we're ready to go to the road again. Hopefully we'll see you somewhere in Europe this year.
I'm available for any kind of show. At Casinos, weddings, birthday parties, any kind of party, you name it. With a rock'n'roll trio, 5 piece band or mini-orquestra (11 musicians). I also use backing tracks although I prefer live musicians.
BIO
Antonio Carlos Coimbra was born in Lisbon. He spent his childhood in the Portuguese colony of Mozambique until coming back to Portugal. In 1977, when he was a small kid he heard Elvis on the radio. His mom was crying because she loved him.
Antonio began to know the King after his untimely death. He also fell in love with his music, as well as with other great names of the era such as The Beatles, Englebert Hunperdink, Tom Jones, Neil Diamond, and many others, but Elvis was special.
Later the kid grew up and he became a musician. He sung and played guitar in various bands and as a solo act. His audiencies always said that he sung a lot of Elvis' songs. Well, he only sung one at the time. He sounds a lot like Elvis without making any effort for it, that's the way he sounds. After releasing a few albums with original songs, he decided to pay a tribute to the man who has most influenced his music. This is how Antonio started this "Remember Elvis" tribute show. In high school, his colleagues called him Elvis, so he decided to be "The Portuguese Elvis". Besides these tribute shows he, regularly writes songs for other artists and his next album of original songs is about to be released. It includes some of his best creations and contributions from great friends and musicians such as Monte James, Dave Lamb, Joe Jesus and the late Jim Purcey.
