Good gentles of our land the Shire of Dragon's Mist, let it be known that on the days of the 29th, 30th, and 31st of the month of July, we will be choosing our new Heavily Armored, Rapier, Archery, and Youth Heavy and Archery Defenders for the last time! Next year we choose Baronial Champions!
There will be lots of Arts and Sciences activites, fire-side moots, bardic and various tournaments to entertain all!
With lots of room we invite all our neighbors to attend. Come, be our guests for a wonderful and fantastic Defender's Tournament and help us celebrate our final event as a Shire!

10 - 12 INTRODUCTION TO PERIOD OPEN-FIRE COOKING - Her Ladyship Eulalia Piebakere
Cost: $5
Number of students: 3 minimum, 12 maximum
Cooking over the fire is authentic and fun! In this hands-on class we will cook dishes from period recipes over the fire using ceramic and cast iron vessels, The instructor will also discuss fire preparation and management, selecting and cooking with pottery, and general historical food research tips. Please bring feast gear (at minimum, a bowl, a spoon, and a knife) as we'll be sampling what we cook, and note-taking materials. Come prepared to cook (no trailing bits of garb, hair tied back, aprons recommended, etc.). Students will receive a handout.
1 -3 DUTCH OVER BREAD MAKING - Robert Frazier

Learn the fine art of baking bread over fire in a dutch oven. Enjoy hot, fresh bread at events and be the envy of all those around you as they smell the bread baking and wish they were you!

London Masters’ 1st Round
Circles of previous defenders 2nd Round
Single sword, single elimination 3rd Round
The 1st round will be a tournament in the style of the London Masters. The competitors will need to score a win with each off-hand combination in order to continue (single sword / open hand, shield, dagger, cloak, baton). This round shows that you are proficient with all manners of weaponry and that no matter what you have with you, you will be able to defend our fare barony.
The 2nd round will be circles drawn on the ground for combatants to fight previous Defenders. If you step outside the circle, you are defeated. Fighting the past Defenders in this manner shows your prowess in fighting in close quarters, and against people who were found worthy of defending our fare Shire in the past. This round is timed, with the quicker time the better.
The 3rd round round will be single sword and single elimination, keeping wounds. Having shown your dedication, you will be required to fight only with your sword and no other help. As you are performing your duties for our fare Shire, you may or may not have anything else on hand and we will need to know you can defend us with only that.
FINALS
The final competitors are to be determined by the accumulated scoring of the three rounds. The finalists will need to choose seconds for a duel. The seconds will meet and confer between each other the ground rules and means for the final fight. Anything that is allowed within our Rapier Rules is permissible, so long as it is agreed upon by the seconds.

The registration fee for this session in $1.00. To pre-register, students will need to send the Registrar a note with the following:
-a list of requested classes
-a check made out to Accademia dei Studiosi, SCA Inc. for all class fees plus the registration fee. You will not be considered registered unless your class fees have been received.
-the student's SCA and modern name, address, phone number, and e-mail address
