Serving the Antioch Community and Those in Need Since 1937!

Through various fundraisers, community action events and member donations, the Antioch Lions Club has assited with various projects including the Antioch Pool, the William E. Brook Wetland Sanctuary, the Tim Osmond Sports Complex and the Blue Star Memorial. The Club is also a major donator to the Antioch Rescue Squad, the Antioch Police Explorers and the Open Arms Mission Food Pantry. The Club is also responsible for the collection of thousands of eye glasses throughout the year for people who may not be able to afford them.

2012 Poker Tournaments

The 2012 Poker Tournaments will run in the same format as 2011! We'll have four tournaments and a points system. At the end of the fourth tournament, we will have a final showdown mini-tournament. The winner will get a seat paid for at a WSOP satellite event! Last year's winner took 163rd place at the WSOP event in Hammond, Indiana and made over $2,800! Maybe this year it could be you!

Highway CleanupI love working on highway cleanup twice a year as part of the Antioch Lions Club. It's a great feeling to drive around our community and see our roads looking so beautiful. It's just one of the great things the Club does for the residents!- Anonymous

The first Poker Tournament of the year will be on January 29, 2012! Registration begins at 10:00a.m. with the tournament beginning at NOON! What is Lionism?

The answer is simple, Lionism is serving those in need. Whether it's getting glasses to someone who can't afford them or raising money to for a community project, Lions always step up.LIONISM had its start in Chicago in 1917. Since 1925 Lions have been dedicated to serving the blind, hard of hearing and most recently Diabetes. From a handful of businessmen in 1917 to over 1.3 million members in more than 200 countries, the Lions International is the largest service organization in the world. Dedicated to their mission of, WE SERVE.Whenever a Lions club gets together, problems get smaller. And communities get better. That's because we help where help is needed in our own communities and around the world with unmatched integrity and energy. Our 45,000 clubs and 1.35 million members make us the world's largest service club organization. We're led by talented, dedicated volunteer leaders from around the world. And, we're supported by the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF), which helps to fund Lions humanitarian projects.

The Lions of Antioch StoryThe Antioch Lions Club was organized in 1937 to become an outstanding service organization contributing to the civic, cultural, social, recreational and moral welfare of the community. Over the past seven decades it has lived up to its charter. In 1946 the Antioch Lions Club members volunteered to join the Antioch Rescue Squad. By 1952 funding was raised to build a new Squad Building. In 1972 with the help of numerous Lions members, the Antioch Rescue Squad became the first advanced Life Support Unit, with Paramedics, in the State of Illinois.In 1954-1955, the Antioch Lions Club sold bonds in the community to raise the money for the Community Swimming Pool. In a few years the bonds were repurchased by the Club and the swimming pool was turned over to the Village of Antioch. Also given to the Village of Antioch was the Lions Pavilion at Williams Park. Sizable donations in both time and funding were made to Centennial Park and the William E. Brook Wild Life Sanctuary and Entertainment CenterThe Antioch Lions Club has provided eye exams and glasses along with hearing aids to Village residents in need and specialized hearing equipment to students at all grade levels. Every Thanksgiving and Christmas, Food Baskets are distributed to those in the community which are less fortunate than most.The Club has provided thousands of dollars and man-hours to support countless community and needy causes such as The annual Candy Day, Diabetes Awareness Day, local flood relief, hurricane relief, Seeing Eye Dogs, and the collection of thousands of pairs of glasses each year, a sizable donation to the Osmond Park Project, a supporter of the Open Arms Mission Food Pantry, Camp Invention and six annual scholarships to ACHS STUDENTS.It is the constant and dedicated effort by Club members and their families that have produced these extraordinary results. Antioch Lionism is truly; PEOPLE CARING FOR PEOPLE.
