Andreolét & Tambüss is an art project started in 2009 by the the painter Alfredo Andreoletti (19/04/81)
and photographer Marco Tambussi (11/05/82).
The two artists decided to adopt the Occitan ancient names of their families instead of giving the one used today,
knowingly, making a step behind in habits.? Step behind?
They don’t believe so.
Is this a refusal from "upcoming future”?
Food for thought…
The obvious questions that can arise are: Why are they painting black and white pictures?
Are they working with photoshop or some tool of that kind?Do they fear modernism?
Are they are conservative, are they living in the past?
Actually, for the few ones that know the conceptual process and the work behind the “making of” a picture,
it‘s easy to understand where these artists are coming from.
"We are fan of slow food… Of single objects lost in large agglomerates. Objects that are abandoned, modern, "ready made".
Objects that for the mass-culture are seen as rubbish… We love stories told by old men, men who have lived the traditions of our land… We appreciate structures and architecture with a soul and a reason... We believe that all this, “inspiration our creative soul”,
deserves to be caught on a black and white film".
Both artists have a passion for music. Tambüss is often on tour with Andreolét´s band around Europe.
They travel together through Italy for the GIRO D´ITALIA bicycle race.
In the last five years they have traveled with cameras catching gleams of the present discarded, unappreciated,
unwanted.
And when inspiration comes, they hide on the secluded hills of Garda Lake working in the dark room,
analyzing every single frame, far from the noise of the cities where they collected their material they plan
to work with.
Once the pictures are selected, the second step consists of making them into a work of art.
They scratch them, they paint them with enamel, they often use gold and bronze leaves.
The last step is the selection of the most appropriate outer frame to present the finished piece.
In fact the artists believe that a work of art should be complete in itself when presented.
Most of the outer frames are found in street markets.
Most of them come from Eastern Europe.
Detailed work is done on them to make them suitable to be adapted to the single picture.
The result is that every single piece is unique since a photo can be treated differently from the dark room to
the final process of framing. To express their uniqueness, every piece has a serial number.
"This past winter we did visit some art galleries and showed our work… we wanted the get some reactions…
we knew it would have been more of a provocation than an expression of interest …
and indeed we got some surprising reactions when those established authorities saw our work.
Most of them treated us as aliens coming from another planet...
They are used to get approached by agents, who promote the painters, or they are exposed to the work of an artist
through internet.
We preferred to do what Caravaggio and Moretto, earlier artists from our native land, did,
with no help of the website, they were going around presenting their work to potential patrons…”
“Of course we have a website, we are living in today’s world, but we believe in the passion of creation…
We believe that is important to share the process that brought us to conceive the result of our work and
we want to relate the story ourselves…. We are aware that our artwork can be disturbing, it is not noble,
it is coming from the streets, where some of the pieces used have been abandoned…
Our work reflects our culture… We come from an area of proletarian, hard working class… We can’t deny it…
And this is reflected in our work… It’s our tradition we want to show and the pleasure we feel in expressing it…
We are proud of it…”
“ It is all that, what we want to say and share with our art work…"
