Annie Lesser graduated from NYU's Dramatic Writing program in 2011, having concentrated in theater, with honors. Upon graduation she had two plays in festivals and was the first non-television concentrate to receive the excellence in television award. She also was one of finalists for the 2012 Goldberg Playwrights award and grant.
Annie's plays and teleplays have received readings and productions in both New York and Chicago. She currently is the writer and producer of the upcoming web show Chicktators: The Sexiest Dictators Online, premiering on Blip.TV in April. For more info visit Chicktators' blog by clicking HERE. Annie writes on commission, spec, and collaboratively.
The following two plays are searching for a Theater to call home for their world premiers.
~The Price of Milk (A Soggy Symphony or Composted Comedy): A play about a man who plummets into insanity over the rising price of milk. Dark and heartfelt, it is amazing the honesty with which Annie captures the emotions of a middle aged man being such a young woman.
~The Forest: A play which explores the human need to self destruct. Four teenagers go camping in The Aokigahara Forest, at the bottom of mount Fuji. While haunted by the ghosts of people that have committed suicide, the teenagers each realize there is something about themselves that is drawn to death. A haunting and original tale, reminiscent of classical Japanese ghost stories.
