Missys journey of dance began eight years ago at the Kung Fu School of Shaolin where she fell in love with holistic belly dance. Her training began with Tsikki Bough, an Israeli born yoginni raised in South Africa who shared her experience with village dance through her instruction of the art of healing through prayer in motion.
Missys early instruction taught her that women need to reignite their inner flame, bringing strength & femininity back into their daily lives and surrendering to the divine light of the goddess within.
After several years, Missy began instructing her own belly dance classes at the Art of Dance Studio in Northwest Las Vegas focusing mostly on Cabaret style belly dance, while still attending various intensives and workshops. Missy began to incorporate other styles of fusion belly dance into her own practice, developing a unique style that envelops an energy that is uplifting in spirit and healing to the soul.
At the same time, Missy began doing live performances with her band Latcho Drome, (a gypsy term for safe journey). Under the inspiration of live music Missy began exploring veil work, zills (finger cymbals) and sword dancing.
After training under Jaime Tam (Jada Fire), Missy gained her certification in expressive yoga dance, a cathartic journey through expressive movement, Middle Eastern serpentine and West African movement concentrating on sound breath cooling down with expressive yoga adjustments and inner calming meditation.
Through Missys journey, she has been fortunate enough to meet four of the most creative, high-spirited, women who have formed the award-winning troupe Dea, who while debuting their first collaborative piece at the Wiggles of the West Belly Dance Competition won first place for Tribal Fusion Ensemble.
Missys passion is to continue on her journey through dance, exploring all the aspects of love and light and passing it on to others that she encounters along the way.
