Shows start at 7:00pmNaturally artistic tastes are always subjective. There are simply no right or wrong answers. This is why we had a panel of 10 impartial judges who had no affiliation with any of the entries nor were Best in the 'Burgh staff members. Bands were judged on songwriting, musicianship and originality based upon the three songs which they had submitted.We empathize with the many artists who work very hard, are hugely talented and have great belief in themselves and their abilities. The standard of bands was extremely high and we know that it was very tough for the judges to make their decisions.The mission of the "Battle for the Best Band in the 'Burgh" is to find the most talented band - not the one with the biggest following. The purpose of this event is to award the winning band with the tools to promote themselves, so that they can develop a following and establish their name in the city. We are a grassroots collective looking for unique talent that may not yet have made it into Pittsburgh's mainstream music scene. We ourselves had not heard of many of the bands who had entered and are pleased to have discovered so much great new talent.The FinalThe SemifinalistsThe BattlePrizesSponsorsThe Battle Does your band havewhat it takes to be namedBest Band in the 'Burgh? Best in the 'Burgh is known for showcasing the finest singer/songwriters in the city...now is the chance for the bands to take the spotlight! The heat is on this summer for 16 local bands to prove they have what it takes as they compete in four semi-final rounds June 14, 28, July 12, 26 at d'Vine Wine Bar in Wexford, PA.The competition will culminate on Sunday, August 2, 2009 when the four top bands vie for the title of Best Band in the 'Burgh. Bands will be judged on originality, musicality, songwriting, stage presence and crowd appeal by a panel of local industry representatives not directly affiliated with Best in the 'Burgh.

The mission of the event is to provide bands with the tools to succeed as professional musicians. The winning band will receive a prize package valued at over $3,000. * Other locally-sponsored prizes to help to promote the band

The second and third place bands will also receive recording time at Treelady Studios* and

all 16 semi-finalists will receive a gift from the sponsors.
