What is the religious level of the trip? The Golani Canyoneering Adventure is a Halachik, Kosher program appropriate for teenagers in Yeshiva High Schools. Davening will take place 3 times a day. How many participants are there? The program will accept 10 participants. What is the staffing? There will be three staff members for the 10 participants, one of whom is a licensed physcian's assistant. Additionally, there will be two more guides from Zion Adventure Company for two of the days. How safe is canyoneering/rappelling? Canyoneering can be a dangerous sport, but Golani maintains a "Safety First" ideology. This mantra is drilled into students from day one, and precautions are taken at every turn. All rappels are backed up with a belay, and all anchors are methodically checked, with backup anchors being utilized where available. Ropes, harnesses, rappel devices, etc, are all thoroughly inspected prior to use. Students are also carefully monitored to make sure that they are performing tasks correctly and learning proper and safe rappelling technique. What are the accommodations? The group will be staying at the Zion RV park and campground. Participants will be camping out in tents. How are we travelling? The group will be travelling via a 28 foot motorhome. What needs to be packed? A detailed packing list will be sent to attendees two months prior to the trip. How does flight work? We will do our best to arrange a group flight at a discounted rate for participants, but this will depend, in part, on the number of participants leaving from the New York area at that time. If we do not have the numbers for a group flight, specific instructions will be given as to what flight to take, so participants can fly together.
