Well the last 12 months have been very busy ones!
As you may already know...I was the Mayoress of Crawley last year with my husband being Mayor - which meant that we attended over 300 functions throughout the Mayoral year.
We met so many wonderful people and had the chance to raise the profile and over £10,000 for Crawley & Horsham Homestart who do such fantastic work for Crawley families.
Many people over the last year have asked what I will remember most - I have to say that although every event that we went to has created many memories for me, such as going up to London in one of the Future Cars on the Brighton to London Run, going to Old Trafford to watch Crawley give Man U a fantastic run for their money in the FA Cup, but I think that the Scouts will always be the most memorable as we were lucky enough to spend so much time with them during our year and I will never forget watching my husband doing "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" around the camp fire!
On an Ifield note, I also worked with the Ifield Football Club to put on a fun day at the Cricket fields - which unfortunately rained off, helped a number of constituents with problems and most recently spoke at the Development Control Committee to voice the concerns of Ifield and Gossops Green residents on the proposed Sikh Community Centre on the bend at Overdene Drive.
I have had meetings with the people that would like to build a housing estate on Ifield Golf Course and advised them that I would not support any development here and the reasons why. I have also taken over the Chair of a Scrutiny Panel on Financial Deprivation in Crawley and most recently requested a Scrutiny panel for Youth Provision. I am also now a Director for the recently formed Charity called The Ifield Community Youth Service who are looking to provide activities for the West of Crawley young people.
Since becoming a Councillor I promised that I would do my best for the people of Ifield, we have have upgraded the parade in Ifield and I am very excited to say that after working in Ifield West for the last 2 years - I am about to put a bid for capital funds into the Budget Advisory Group at CBC for a substantial amount of money to build and equip a "Life Centre" in Dobbins Place!
