In all her compositions, Maia is blazing new trails in Kenya; experimenting with different styles, and creating a hybrid sound that is her very own.Eric Wainaina top Kenyan Kora Award-winning singer-songwriter whose career was launched with his debut album, Sawa Sawa, in 2001. Wainainas music is a blend of Kenyan Benga rhythm and East African guitars, with some modern harmony. At the 2007 Kisima Music Awards Wainaina won three categories: Afro-fusion, best song and best video from Kenya. Soaring guitar lines, pulsating drum rhythms and excellent vocals. Lyrics in Swahili, English, Kikuyu and Luo.The famous Hootenanny group, who have been entertaining Nairobi audiences for over thirty years, with their good fun blend of Ballads, Country and Western, Roc, and Golden Oldies.YunasiYunasi will arrive at Diani Beach fresh from their recent festival gigs in Thailand. After creating a big noise on the international music scene the homegrown Nairobi boys are back for a very special one off appearance on home soil. Winners of many international music and song writing awards including the BBC 'Next Big Thing 2007' and 2008 WOMA World Music Award Yunasi are sure to put on a stunning show for the festival. 'Since 2001 the group has performed in Kenya, France, Germany, Belgium, Mayotte, Djibouti, Tanzania and London. Their shows are "tight". With fantastic instrumental and vocal harmonies, soulful and contemplative one minute and pumping explosive rhythms the next, they guarantee satisfaction to those who enjoy listening as well as dancing' (Sauti Za Busura). Jam SandwichAfter their resounding success at the Diani Beach Music Festival 2008, we have managed to get Jam Sandwich back on our stage this year! Well known for working big audiences to a frenzie, Jam Sandwich is one of Londons leading cover bands - they deliver a high-octane show featuring hits from the Rolling Stones to the Killers, U2 and Snow Patrol. In 2008, Jam Sandwich created a fantastic festival atmosphere and we look forward to them doing the same this year!Fandango DuoJax & Peter, children of the Universe better known as Fandango Duo! The perfect couple, the perfect fit, two volumes of the same book.Peter is somewhat physic, Jax an incorrigible fantasizer. He dreams, she breathes them in. Together they feed upon each other, traveling a fantasmajorical journey recorded in their new book 'Dreams Of Song' sewn together of course, with 17 of their own songs.Kachumbari Seven Kachumbari Seven is a culturally-mixed band of musicians from Kenya, India and Britain. It aims to create original new music to celebrate the diverse mix of African, Asian and European cultures found in Nairobi. Amongst the group, their musical backgrounds represent North Indian and Nepalese classical and folk traditions, the European classical tradition, the English folk tradition, and African music tradition from parts of Kenya and beyond. The music is a colourful mixture of sounds, moods and atmospheres, created by flowing from improvised music to sections with strict rhythms, melodies and ragas.
